Root Random Reboot

yeah if you wiped the caches then it will take longer to reboot as it has to build them up again. but if it is random then a few minutes is all it should take. but if the randomness increases then you might have other issues. keep track of when it happens and what you were doing when it happens.

Gotcha, I was definitely referring to the unexpected reboots while you are doing something on your phone, not the manual one's after clearing something. I had my first one on Mik3.1 last night and I've always been curious as to how long to let it go, at what point am I in a bootloop.

well as far as letting it go it could have been a freak thing or it could be a problem. I would atleast opt for it a few times and see if I can find out whats causing it (ie running certain programs, etc) but i'm curious and like to see if I can figure things out. Sometimes its a program that causes the reboot and not necessarily the ROM. It could also be a kernel issue. But again it could take a while to figure it out. I normally have the 5 rule if it happens five times then its an issue. If it happens less than that well could be various things as already discussed.

BootLoop - a point of which the boot screen will play to a certain area then it will restart. It will continue to do this. Usually a battery pull and clearing dalvic and cache will solve this however not all the time bootloops can be fixed by simply reflashing the same ROM you are on. If you choose a new ROM you will need to wipe everything (except sdcard, battery stats, and Screen something or other) however the later two can be wiped with no problems.

Well, I had 6 or 7 of these sporadically when I was on Mik3 w/ the test Anthrax over a two month run, not a big problem to me. Now I am on Mik3.1 w/ Anthrax 4, trying different kernel due to previous bootloops.

I am suspicious about last night, I was playing a newly downloaded game when this happened. Later I realized I had a phone call/voicemail come in at about the same time, no ring...hmmmm

I am going to be more conscious of things if this happens again in the future, I too am curious and want to figure things out. :D
