Nope, they're thinking about doing it down my way also.
Hope you're keeping everything charged--like I am! The weather segment is on the news right now--the Santa Ana winds will continue until Saturday; tomorrow's temp in my valley will be just under 100. What are the temperatures like out your way?

I still keep on opening up black spots with my new girl, I really do want to see her elsewhere with me, but seeing how everyone is super busy at home or their occupation, I am letting go of the greed and understanding why I am starting to feel a bit better of her and my own will too. I am gearing up slowly for the biggest day ever, still there are far too many varibles and letting it all go for now... As it ticks away, when will it show?

I'm sorry you're without power, @rootabaga. How long has it been? Do they give you warning, or does it just go out?

We've been lucky so far, although my cousin has been affected twice. Not power, but fire. Last week that fire in the Sepulveda Basin was ≈2 miles from her house; the smoke was bad and she had a lot of ash-fall. Then this morning, the Getty fire...she got partway to work [at UCLA, on the 405], then decided to go home. All classes were canceled there, but no evacuation orders were made. I'm glad she stayed home.

Here in my valley--where it's all SoCal Edison--we've had no outages or fires. Yet. The way they're popping up, seemingly at random, you just never know.

My cousin and I were pondering much of the stuff you've mentioned, while talking last night. I reminded her that none of this would happen if we only raked our forests better! Yep, that would totally eliminate years of drought, bone-dry chaparral, single-digit humidity, fierce Santa Ana winds, and high temperatures.

Gov Newsom is doing the best he can, given the circumstances.

Keep us posted on how you're doing.

Uh .. I too had one about two weeks ago...
I thought you had a root canal...? Mine was a root canal tooth that fell out (porcelain crown, titanium post, and all). Today my dentist removed the tiny bit of tooth that was left, and the roots, and sutured me up.

The six-month IV antibiotics and hospitalization wreaked havoc on my teeth. I'm just now well enough to start addressing those issues. The plan is to space things out over time, limiting how much is done at once. This was the first time I'd seen my dentist since before I got sick. :o

I'm here to tell you that getting old is a pain in the tooth. I've lost a few teeth though the years. Mostly from clinching a pipe in my my teeth for sixty years. The lost teeth were jaw teeth and the loss each time has caused me to reinvent chewing. I adapted and all was well until this summer when I all but knocked out a front tooth with my Yeti coffee cup when I hit a bump in the road. I was a bit more than hillbilly looking with it gone and Mrs olbriar insisted I have the tooth replaced. My dentist gave me two options... one functional and the other cosmetic. The functional option was to remove another three teeth, grind the outer two teeth from the great divide, and crown them with a permanent bridge. Cost... around four and a half grand. The cosmetic patch consisted of putting a tooth on a mouth piece affair. Cost... around eight hundred. He informed me that none of my teeth were in good shape but thought I'd likely get four to five years use of the functional option. With that in mind, I opted for the cosmetic patch. Hey, it looks great. It is not functional however. I can kind of eat with it in place but it's no fun. Taking it out to eat is not always an option. A grand a year to have fun eating and a smile on my face might have been the wiser move. Four or five years from now I'll likely be wearing dentures anyway. Dang... having old teeth is a bummer.

Isn't it, though?!

Shitty teeth run in my family. Do they yours, too?

My father got his dentures when I was in middle school and my mother when I was in college. My older sister by four years has had dentures for a decade. I'm chewing on borrowed time it seems. :) Honestly, my teeth have served me well. The teeth that I've lost all had fillings and eventually broke in half front to back. I pulled them all myself... a half at a time. :) I don't think they would have broke if it weren't for the early and questionable dental work I had done in my youth. My teeth are starting to get loose now. That's likely due to my age. I can't really complain. I think with the luck of the draw I escaped the crappy teeth my family had. I'm just now realizing how lucky I've been. Problem with one's teeth is no fun.

I'm sorry you are having problems with your teeth. I hope you are not in pain. The few times I had a tooth ache it was the most up close and personal pain I've experienced. As I stated, I pull them when they hurt that bad. I can't deal with it. I sure hope you aren't suffering.

Aw, thanks, @olbriar. :) I am in pain, but I have a personal scale by which I've gauged pain since I was a teenager--giving birth to my 10-pound daughter is what I compare it to. As I reminded my dentist today, "I have a freakishly high pain threshold." So it's there, but no biggie.

Like you, I saw my relatives get dentures early; I was in elementary school when my mom got hers. My brother made it to ≈45. Also like you, I've lost teeth over the years, all lower, rear teeth; they were too far gone even for a root canal and crown. And what's always amazed me--and my dentists--is how quickly a tooth could go from fine (per exam and x-rays) to needing a root canal or extraction. Just shitty teeth genes!

I'm not a candidate for implants, so we're going to work on fixing the problem teeth and then doing partials for both lower back sides.

I appreciate the concern; I'm doing okay. :)

Yeah I had one around ongoing I think three weeks ago, or something off into the past, seems like every day it is a blur to me, all I do is just write:
do band pratice,
run the band's company,
do my side occupation,
draw,
photos,
hang out with my girlfriend too.. Luckily all have extremely flexable hours.
