My father, someone that loved flying so much, only flew once after his service. He rented a plane and took two of his brothers on a sample flight. He said the rented plane was a dog and he almost flew it into the ground trying to thrill his brothers. I guess marrying and raising children kept him from flying again. It's sad because he really had a passion for flying. For just the cost of gasoline, we would spend many evenings on the roof top observatory of the local airport watching planes take off and land when I was a youth. I thought it was fun stuff never realizing how he longed to be flying. It really saddens me now as I recall those days.

Growing up, there were six of us guys that were the best of friends... still are for that matter. Four of the six became pilots. One flew commercially and one flew a single engine craft for the Sheriff department and for the Kansas wildlife research and for the electric company flying lines.... you name it... he's been on that gig. He had two personal single engine crafts and was an instructor for many years. Why me and my other buddy did not fly I can't say. I've flown with the others many times and help them financially get their hours early in their training. I've flown a bit here and there but never perused a license. I will admit... it is an incredible feeling to pilot a craft.

Happy 110th birthday to Hedy Lamarr, one of the most stunningly beautiful actresses of the silent film era... and one of the most brilliant women in history! The "frequency-hopping" technology she developed helped the Allied forces communicate without fear of radio interception by the enemy: and still serves as the basis for CDMA technology in use today by cellular companies like Verizon.

She was a genius. We watched a doc about her a few years ago.

Congrats, I hope you enjoy it and get good service from it. I’m starting the process to think about a replacement and leaning towards Samsung or Pixel, but I’m tempted by the new Razr as well. Nothing until the new year, that’s for sure.
Funny the Verizon almost sold me on a Samsung, but ya know Verizon has no control over us underdogs of Moto fan boys..

How are you feeling, @rootabaga - any health improvements?
Thanks for asking. Slowly but steadily; I caught the bug near the end of our trip (I was masked on the flight and much of the time aboard the small river ship) and the long trip home really wore me out. Thankfully the watery intestinal issue didn’t hit until the day after we got back. I took an expired Covid test and it said yes (which I’ve avoided until now, guess my number was up) and I haven’t had it too bad. I’m grateful that this newer variant hasn’t attacked my lungs, probably in part because like a good dog, I’ve had all my shots. ;) Anyway, pretty sure I’m on the mend.
BTW, for anyone who is interested, you can get another set of free test kits from the feds as of September 2024. (Yes, I ordered some more).
Stay healthy and safe out there, everyone.

Feel better man..

I think most Verizon people have a few screws loose... especially tech support, whose first step in troubleshooting is factory reset. That aside, I dunno: it's been my experience that chicks with a few screws loose can be a lot of fun :D
Hahahaa..
She thought a few days on Monday, would be Friday lol.
Basically going to get it in the mail tomorrow, would of arrived by today but requires my mothers signature.
