What'll the concert halls and casinos do when these relics get to old to play and we get too old to hear them?

Musicians in our time were not necessarily better, they were just riding a wave of incredible growth in the technologies of the sixties, seventies, eighties and some nineties. And now that audio technology has advanced about as far as it can, so have musicians and so has our appetite for new music. We were just living in a magical time, that's all.

speak for yourself... Some of my rock heroes are so because they are incredibly talented.

Though, yeah, the punk rock kids went to great length to hide any vestige of talent.

I'm not saying they weren't talented, just that they were in the right place at the right time. If multitrack recording and electric guitars and such things all popped up a hundred years ago, other talents would have been there then to claim the prize.

I'll concede that. With that thought in mind, there are many talented people who are making names for themselves right now who wouldn't have twenty years ago because the internet didn't exist in the form that it takes now...

On the other hand, there are a lot of people now, as there were then, who would have stood out in one way or another regardless of the state of musical or any other technology of their time. It's the stuff historical fantasy is built upon.

Tonight when I got home, I noticed someone in my apartment building has just tossed their (originally live) Christmas tree. It didn't look very good, thank goodness it didn't catch fire & burn our apartment building down!

Another odd thing I found tonight was that someone in the building had put some food they no longer wanted, in an area where people sometimes leave "crap they don't want". At first you might think "well, that was nice of them" except - the food items were perishable, some were even in containers clearly marked "Keep Frozen".

I guess someone in my building was doing some spring cleaning this weekend :p

Wow...[emoji33]...Okay...

Ummm....Christmas was, like four months ago...and why leave out stuff that will rot quickly...

My guess is that those people are either stupid or mentally disturbed...either way...personally I would stay away from them.

It's really surprising that people will actually fall for that, the notes on the article say it's happened at a few other restaurants in other towns & states too - so people should really know better by now.

That was what I thought!

On a related note (silliness of people) - this was on the news this weekend:

OMG! [emoji33] [emoji47]

The depths of human stupidity never cease to amaze me!

I recently replaced a kitchen in a residence and the owner owns a number of Freddie's. He was telling me that some of his stores have recently been scammed by uniformed men supposedly from the power company. They were demanding immediate payment for late electric bills or was threatening to cut off their power. Fortunately a manager called him before handing over some cash. What a world we live in.:(

Remember the kids who came by my house last year wanting to see my energy bill?

I saw a news article about it last week...

I guess I'm just so skeptical that if I got a call like that, I'd wonder why they were calling instead of coming to the restaurant, & I wouldn't believe them.

In the case of the one I posted - it's not like it's a spread out town; the fire department is FOUR minutes away. If it was a legit threat, why wouldn't the "fire department official" come to the restaurant?

Yeah, I'm skeptical & kind of non-trusting, no way I'd buy it. At most, I could see MAYBE evacuating the place while someone was calling 911 or the fire department themselves, but that's as far as I'd go. I wonder if people get fired when they fall for this?

Question.
So I hear a lot about Tasker. Now that I have project fi I always put my phone in airplane mode (with WiFi and BT enabled) to shut off mobile data while on WiFi at work and so on. I'm looking for an automation app that will handle this for me remotely in the background. And certainly if I could just set it up where it would be on WiFi exclusively when WiFi is present that would be ideal. Suggestions?

Stephen Hawking and Billionaire Team Up on $100 Million Quest to Find Alien Life

Stephen Hawking and Russian billionaire Yuri Milner are teaming up in a $100 million hunt for alien life that will rely on a fleet of postage stamp-sized spacecraft to explore the universe...

Astronomers believe an Earth-like planet could exist within the "habitable zones" of Alpha Centauri, the closest star system to Earth, located 25 trillion miles (or 4.37 light-years) away.
...hey, plenty of 'em right here in Arizona!
