Random Thought Thread

I'm struggling to keep up with my cable box, DVD Boxsets, netflix, radio, podcasts etc... If I had an android TV box as well, I'd have to stop watching TV all together and pay someone else to watch it all for me!

(so I'm probably the wrong person to ask....)

I was taking a friend to the local casino when I lost the ability to think, to move, to make sense of anything.

Been thinking about that. My brain must have bypassed incredible pain by diverting my conscious reaction from what was really happening. All I felt was a funny pressure down where I now know is my kidney. And that I was making no sense to my friend or the hospital staff was a tell that something was really changing in me.

The strangest part was that I was able to drive across town to the hospital and park just right, but needed to be carted from the car to the ER. You're rightly thinking, why the hell didn't my friend insist on driving?! The reason I was taking him in the first place was because he has macular degeneration – can't hardly see a thing.

Still waiting for the final stage of this but I hear it won't necessarily be painful, noticeable or even ever happen... or it might be even worse than the first part!

If Tom Brady didn't have a suspension he'd be the greatest NFL Quarterback ever. 2 more Superbowls wins should change that though. How is he cute too?
You'd think that much Football would rough him up.

I guess it's time for someone to buy a new boat. ;) :p :D

I'm clearly using social media in completely the wrong way -

Facebook: Only post humorous articles or pictures of food/pets
Twitter: Retweet tweets by famous people, or like them

Above all, do not offer any of your own opinions. Nobody's interested, and it could cause you to become unpopular and alienated - or in my case, even more so ;)

I get my old Sunday school teacher who posts racist diatribes and fake news, a bunch of church members who are Reposting edl links.... And extended family members who.... Er... Appear to be enacting a live version of Gerry springer....

Plus a lot of useful fun stuff from people I do care about....

I rarely repost anything. In fact, I rarely post at all in Facebook and it's almost entirely original material.

And, of course, and I am still not a twit...

Oh go on. Just think of all those quality Trump tweets you're missing out on.

Actually you really do have to be careful these days what you say there, because for one thing, potential employers can check what you're spouting on social media. So best not to be too controversial.

As a potential employer, I'd be highly suspect of an applicant who DIDN'T post offensive political diatribe on a Facebook page, or tweet religious or racist nonsense. Someone who is intelligent and reasonable on social media is hiding something. ;)

I'm not taking chances and sticking with the insanely boring, like my recent running achievements. Riveting eh? :D
Oh and I can always have a go at Trump.

No, just not interested. All I want is my kid's site and the pictures of her moggies.
This forum is far more entertaining than FB crap.

I haven't seen a timeline, have never "liked" anything and don't really see any ads, either.

I was just reading about the suicide bomber attack on the Afghan Supreme Court, and I was sitting here thinking. I don't know much about explosives (perhaps more than some people as I have helped to fuse some professional pyrotechnics), but I'm wondering if some brilliant minds out there are working on some kind of a field generator that would be benign to people and animals, but would cause a reaction in explosives. Something you could just have in a van, say, driving down the road, and suicide bombers (or their wares, before being strapped on) would simply explode in situ, rather than they way they planned. Of course it would also not have to react with firearm ammunition or fuel (gas, diesel, fuel oil, etc.).

If such a thing is possible, I do sincerely hope someone is working on it.

(Sometimes my random thoughts aren't really light and simple.)

Only problem I see with that option is collateral damage. I mean sure they don't bomb the embassy or court or convoy but that bomb goes off somewhere right? So they take out their neighborhood or the subway station or wherever they may be when the trigger device gets close. If they could invent something that would make the explosives benign it would be ideal. Don't think that's even possible though. o_O
