That one made me chuckle, when I saw it in a Beijing hotel lift yesterday. I believe correct English translation should be "Spicy beautiful pig trotters", that's what it says in Chinese.

Ahhhh right. :D

I've never played Minecraft, what's the big deal about it ?

It's not a big deal. IMO it's a slow, repetitive and arduous game. But if you have an infinite amount of time to play it, you can create some pretty awesome things.

It's like digital Legos for many. For me, it's just an adventure game with a new map every time I generate a world. Plus, I can build things or whatever.

But get this: I bought the game back when it was still in Beta, and haven't played it in several years. So I was setting up my new install of Linux Mint, when I stumbled upon the Debian repository for Minecraft... it was always available for Linux back in the day, but you had to set it up yourself, and here it is all prepackaged. So I thought what the hell... I installed it, started it, logged in (took a while to find that password) and generated a new world.

I'm staring at a whole village. WTH? Since when were there buildings prebuilt? Not only that, but there were actual non-killing-you, NPCs in there. Granted, they all had faces like Squidward, but still...

Anyway, long story slightly shortened, I am unfamiliar with this build, and I've had my ass handed to me a dozen times after only an hour and a half of playtime. I've forgotten the formulas, the rules for survival, everything.

I recall spending the nights in Minecraft huddled in a cave, waiting for daylight, because the monsters come out at night, and go straight in for the kill. So that all added to the intensely boring experience. I was probably playing it all wrong, and should have built myself a shield of invincibility, or something like that. ;)

Yeah, I just realized that I need to make some armor for my weak little body...

Most times I'm exploring the caverns or digging down to the layer where the ore I need is, so I don't care what time of day it is outside, but when you are starting from scratch it is kind of boring to wait for the sun to burn all the monsters away because you ran out of wood.

Drinks all round again folks. I won a long standing battle with the local council to come round and tidy up their trees, which are growing close to my house. Quite a job now as they've let them grow really big. Anyway, I think they finally got fed up of me emailing them, and the CC list had grown very long, including my elected member of parliament.
It only took 18 months to get something done haha!

Cheers!

The simple answer is either end. You have to be a real psychopath for that to not affect you.

You know, I wonder how those soldiers operating machine guns and mowing down people as they came across no-man's land coped with that. What did they feel? Probably just a total mental detachment. And they were probably just as scared as those guys trying to make it over the other side to kill them.

I was lucky enough to miss most of that, but I did know a few guys, and like anything else, their responses kind of fall on a spectrum.

One guy was fine as long as he pretended his targets weren't human, it seemed. Another was all messed up and will probably be in therapy for the rest of his life.

One gal I know saw some stuff that totally changed her attitude toward life, and I don't know whether she'll make it through therapy or not.
