I have the paperwhite and love it. My wife wishes she paid the extra for the backlight.
My sister got me a Paperwhite with a light for Christmas. I told her mine was fine and to return it. She never did so I'm going over tonight to pick up my now much needed Christmas present
You can turn off the light (or dim it) when you don't need it and drastically increase battery life. I loved my Kindle until I bought a tablet. It is ancient but still works great. It served me well but the tablet reader is far superior.
I was within feet of Whitey Bulger when he was called to the courthouse in Post Office Square. He just looked like a short middle-aged guy with big glasses. The garage people were so subservient it made me wonder who he was. Glad I never found out until much, much later.
