OMG... My public library has a marquee advertising books to read for the current flavor of the month. This month it is "Asian Pacific American Heritage Month".

Three of the six books shown on the front page are volumes of Avatar: The Last Airbender. You know, comics based off the Nickelodeon show that was created by Americans featuring generic Asian characters doing magic in made-up martial arts styles?

So, my daughter walked into a gaming store (oriented around card games and RPGs) the other day, and everybody in there stared at her. One of the patrons was clearly heard to say, "OMG, a girl!".
