I've finally found myself uttering the fateful words "He's not good enough for you".
Anyone with a teenage daughter will understand.

Two of my kids have already married down. I'm hoping one of the remaining ones will marry into the same income bracket (if they marry at all).

The bottom line is, though, that they make their choices and they must live with it. I can't save them from themselves. Now if only our governing bodies would learn this lesson, there'd be a lot fewer stupid laws.

I raised three girls... you will survive. Take a tip from an old man: Get to know them. Spend as much time as you can with them. Completely understand what sort of prospective son-in-law you are dealing with and then eliminate the threat. :)

My provider changed the POP settings again , so after I fixed them in Gmail so it can ping that account again, it decided that it should grab Every. Single. Email. again for the past eight years.

It was well over 6,000 before I began the purge.

It'll take me a week to finish getting rid of them.

The boss of a top online gambling firm has received a pay rise to £265m
I'm not jealous in any way, because this is a family business built from the ground up, with hard work. But it got me thinking, would you have any problems working for a gambling company, knowing that as a society we have a real problem with obsessive compulsive gambling, which is wrecking lives? And compulsive gambling is often a disease which blights the lives of people who can least afford to lose money.

None whatsoever!

Amazing how much money is generated/recycled by gambling isn't it.

When MA legalized gambling they built in support programs for compulsive gamblers.

Doesn't stop anybody from losing their shirt but can't hurt, might help.

I'm not sure all gambling companies are that conscientious. I find it staggering that for a long time now, you can go into a high street betting shop, and use a fixed odds betting machine, to lose £100 in a single stake! And there is no limit to what an individual can lose.
If that isn't exploitation, I don't know what is.

Do you have the same objection to breweries or distilleries, knowing that there are many out there with alcohol problems? While gambling doesn't have any intrinsic value other than entertainment and the livelihoods of those employed in the industry, it doesn't create the problem. Anything can be abused or used excessively to the detriment of those using it or those around them.

While I'd never probably work in the gambling industry primarily because I find it incredibly boring, I don't think i have any moral objection to those who do.
I don't really have any objection to prostitution, either as long as BOTH (or however many there are in the transaction :o) parties are willing and agreeable.
