Thanks everyone :beer::beer::beer::beer: it was kinda a normal day tbh. Went to dinner at my mums with the family. We'll go out and "celebrate" next week when we have some pennys :)

Actually that wasn't pollution, it was nearly sunset. :p Xilinhot is actually very clean by Chinese standards, small city in middle of steppe grasslands, not much heavy industry. One reason why I've chosen to settle here. A lot of building construction though. Now Beijing on the other hand...blue sky can quite a rare sight. :rolleyes: ...same with many other large Chinese cities....but then China Inc. is pretty much the world's factory.
 
Dang, the authorities in Ghana forced the jungle gold guys out of the country.

TBH from what I've seen in my travels, a lot of China is actually quite clean, because it's very much still a rural environment. It's only really the east and south which is polluted, mainly because of all the cars and factories. Most of Beijing's smog is caused by exhaust pollution from all the vehicles AFAIK. When everyone rode bicycles and walked, I believe Beijing was probably quite clean. Basically if you want to manufacture products and drive cars, that makes pollution unfortunately. Think the UK is pretty clean now, but they don't really make things there these days. Cleaning up brownfield land and old industrial sites where the factories used to be, etc,.

When I visited Guangdong Province occasionally, from Zhuhai to Zhongshan to Guangzhou to Dongguan to Shenzhen, it's literally hundreds of kilometres of just factories, factories and more factories. And I think, this is where China Inc. conducts most of it's business.

If you want to see some really horrible pollution in China, look up "Electronic waste in Guiyu", this place is just toxic. It's a town in Shantou, Guangdong where people live and "recycles" many of the old computers and other e-waste from the United States and Europe. So if one is sending that old PC or CRT TV off for recycling, it's more than likely coming back home to China, where it was originally made.
 
Just got a job working 9 pm to 5 am.

How the heck am I supposed to get used to that schedule??
