Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

I don't know any better, so I follow the dealership guideline & take it in whenever it gets down to... don't remember, something like 15% shows up on the dash. I need to keep my vehicle in good working order for as long as I can!

I used up the last of my free oil changes from the dealership where I bought my car.

Time to find a good independent place that will do my changes. Not a fan of dealers at all.

I go to my dealership but I found out they accept competitor's coupons for other Honda dealerships in the state. There's one dealership that always runs a great deal, the last time the dealership tried to tell me they only accept other Honda dealership coupons "in the area" but I argued that I was told "in the STATE" by a tech on a previous visit (I really was), & they still took it.

My Prius still goes by the 5000 mile counter; I just use 15000 mile synthetic. It sound s like most of you guys have newer vehicle with built-in oil analysis, which is great. I'm hoping my next vehicle will have that (or no oil at all).

My rant is that I am up way too early for a weekend, and my schedule today has me everywhere at once.

When People Decide To Capitalize Words For No Apparent Reason Like This. I Find It Kind Of Annoying And Always Wonder Why On Earth They Did It, Since It's More Difficult To Do This Than To Type Normally.

Also, the use of the word "common" when someone clearly means "come on".

Oh yeah, also the use of the phrase "put down" when you need to put your sweet, lovable pet to sleep due to illness or whatever. When I hear someone say they need to put down their pet, it makes me think of Old Yeller - and I've never even seen that movie. It sounds so heartless.

German capitalizes nouns. Some nouns used to be capitalized in 17th century English. Maybe it's hardwired somewhere in some people's brains.

If it really gets to you, go read some e e cummings. He didn't capitalize anything in most poetry.

I've seen Come On more as cummon, cumon, rarely with an o. I still have a pet peeve about apostrophes. Same grammar rules as capitalize all nouns.

Chinese is easier, there is no upper-case or lower-case, and apostrophes are for quoting things.

I think cummon, goin', wanna, gonna, gotta, prolly, innit, etc. are fine in reported speech. But you don't want to be using them in formal writing though, like job applications or a resume.

This actually happens automatically if i post here via my mobile browser. It's even more annoying if the word i Swype is close enough that I'd only have to change the last letter or two. If i delete the last letter and add my correction it capitalizes that too

This is why i prefer tapatalk

Blowing Out my knee while on vacation!

I'm on vacation at Ocean City MD, and on Wednesday night, I completely blew out my knee. So for the reminder of the vacation, I have been hobbling around on crutches with my knee wrapped up in an Immobilization Wrap.

kct: I really hope it doesn't ruin any of your vacation plans.

zuben: that poetry doesn't bother me at all, I find it easier to read than the stuff where every single word is capitalized. Plus, poets can pretty much do what they want in their writing, & it's just considered part of their artistic-ness :p

Thanks PattiCake...the injury happened on Wednesday night, but my friend and I decided to say the remainder of the week.

The injury hasn't completely ruined my vacation, but I am unable to go onto the beach or into the water. So that is a bummer [emoji20]

Bummer - enjoy what you can. It could turn out to be more than expected.
Thanks,

I am enjoying being away from the office, and the Washington DC area (with all of the crappie traffic).

I am also enjoying eating good seafood, seeing some old friends at the various local restaurants and bars, and meeting new people.

So at least I am getting some relaxation from that.

Also, at least the pain isn't too bad.

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes. [emoji18]

@kct1975 - hope your knee improves. Well, it's official: my lady and I are moving to Colorado next spring. We'll be between Conifer and Morrison (not far from Red Rocks, where we'll catch some great live music).

The land is owned by her family, and we're going to be in the mountains 45 minutes from Denver.

I can't believe it. I'm finally going to leave the Southern United States. Pinch me!

Like @zuben el genub, I'll finally get decent groceries at King Sooper's - real provolone cheese in their deli, hopefully some mortadella, capriacola and prosciutto... just like their sister store over here, Kroger.

This is a happy rant!

LW :)
