Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

Isn't there like, a reset hole or something?

I dunno, when Dngrswife's S4 locks up, I just hold the power button down for 15 or 30 seconds and it shuts off.

Finding out for myself that shit rolls downhill.

Not looking forward to work on Monday. But hey, I may get the rest of the week off... And all the time after that
Man...sorry to hear that!

I can tell you that there have been Several Times in my work life, when I have been forced to take the Blame for something that wasn't my fault, and it has really sucked each time.

Trust me...you will get through it somehow.

I hate to ask, but you did try a simulated battery pull first, right?

Yeah, sure. Run it by me so I know i did it right though.

I may have been letting off some steam. Just poor timing on the phone's part. I guess I forgot to mention that it had a badly damaged touch screen. I was not my crown jewel by any means. I've got an S4 also, it is my daily driver. The battery is removable. Hence it is still in one piece.

A. Courts are not doctors
B. Numerous studies consisting of thousands of subjects provide no link between common vaccines and autism
C. Every child NOT VACCINATED against common childhood diseases is at serious risk for contracting said diseases; and DYING from them.

Need I say more?

Compared to the previous post, my rant sounds shallow...but here goes anyways....

My Rant is about people who 'Ride the Brake'.

Serious...am I the only one that was taught to let my car coast a bit to slow it down?

Seriously people...there is absolutely no reason to ride your breaks down a small hill.

There is also no reason to 'stomp your breaks' either.

Let's not even consider engine-braking...

I do that a lot. It saves fuel. Coast up to traffic lights, junctions, and I absolutely love downhills - free power, thanks gravity!

Or a less destructive way to slow your car would be engine braking.
Sorry @Dngrsone, couldn't resist ;)

What can I say, posting by phone kinda sucks for me...

Dammit!!

I just ordered a Moto X Pure through Amazon's Prime Day killer sale, it won't be here for a while because it's not in stock. No biggie, wasn't planning on using it right away anyway. I JUST freaking got a call that one of my peep's phone is broken and totally unusable. Seriously? Are you serious? I don't have any backup phones sitting around. UGH. I wouldn't give him the X anyway but seriously? I'll be heading over to Best Buy later to pick up the Moto G I just ordered for him. Yeah. 16GB is all he gets. I get a $50 gift card out of the deal so it's not a total loss but seriously, are you kidding me??? He'll pay me for it, of course, but I know he doesn't have a ton of money so that's why I got him the 16GB. But really!!

Didn't Amazon have any of the seconds left? Mine was supposed to have a ding in the back, the ad said minor, so I took a chance in Feb. with the 32G white/bamboo. They did have the warranty, and except for volume of the ringer, it's a pretty decent phone.
I also can't find the ding or scratch. The phones were sold by Amazon Warehouse.

I got the Oppo Find7 through an Amazon reseller.

Oooooo, I love to downshift!

Brake riders don't make me cranky on hills (small or large) but they do on a flat road. Ummm, are you accelerating away from that stop light or are we really stopping for no reason? Hello! Get your foot off the brake and just friggin' drive!

I can engine brake. I do it because I can. I've caught bikers on mountain roads by brake checking. I was slightly over the speed limit so they weren't too close, but we hit hairpin turns which I've driven before. It's just plain fun using brake checking on those mountain roads. After the first turn, they were twice as far back as they had originally been. After the 2nd, they just slowed down.

Pissed them off since I'm driving an older Toyota Tacoma 4WD.

The signs for the curves show the curve and the speed limit, so if the bikers had bothered to read -----

Thanks.

Turns out the shit rolled on past me to somebody else. I somehow ended up with a bump to my annual raise even.

I don't understand it, but I sure won't complain about that.

You may not have been around when my little car was hit-and-run... It wasn't pretty. Actually, it totaled my car!

Sorry to dwell on cars.....

First thought; Good job you weren't hurt......My truck was unattended, no big deal; People who flee scene when potential injuries.....not nice, twice.
Second thought; Gee whiz, look at the picture Mikedt posted on other thread, lets hope for good outcome there as well.
Third thought....(Joking, please bear with me) Sure hope your car really was totaled:p ;)

Rant: Insurance companies and body shops. Elderly friend of family, (quiet librarian type) rear ended a few weeks ago. Two shops bid to do the repairs, and on the sound advice of their computer algorithm, the insurance company declared the car a "total", offered $2,100; Send the car to the crusher, have a nice day.

The car is a 10 year old Toyota Camry, fully optioned, under 20,000 miles. One owner, California car, in otherwise showroom new condition......truly. Other than fashion, no good reason why this car shouldn't serve this woman well, until she genuinely too old to drive any longer.
Two tail light assemblies, and a bumper cover, and the car would be ready to go; Other damage (she was willing to ignore) was trivial, but the people writing the estimate don't see it that way. (If we notice it, it goes on the bill.......We'll tell you when it's good enough!)
The punchline is, after much back and forth, the insurance company finally agreed to pay to have the car fixed at a third shop......for roughly 1.5 times either of the first two estimates, go figure.
