Well that sux!Got banned today from a car forum that I've been active on for several years.
They didn't like some of the comments I made about Jesse Ventura in the off-topic section.

According to the US Supreme Court, it doesn't exist if you want to yell "Fire!" in a crowded theater.Well that sux!

According to the US Supreme Court, it doesn't exist if you want to yell "Fire!" in a crowded theater.
According to most moms and dads, it doesn't exist at the dinner table - some words and subjects are taboo.
And it doesn't exist at privately owned forums where the owners and admins set posting rules, as is their right, to protect the members.
And at no time are any laws or rights violated.
Their house, their rules, break them and you may be asked to leave.
Just like your house.![]()
Unless it's extreme behavior, like racism, etc etc, we're pretty mellow about unbanning people if we can have a simple meeting of the minds over the rules. What he said.
While it sucks being banned from a forum where I have a bunch of friends, I respect the right of the forum's owners to decide who can participate in their forum and what behavior is tolerated.
Also, while there wasn't any profanity in my post, the things I said about Ventura weren't things I would have said with my mother in the room.

Jesse who? I had to look that one up in the Wikipedia.![]()

I chair a board, and for routine stuff the clerks use a signature stamp. Well, when one of the board members changed they replaced the stamp. Evan was visiting one day and they gave him the old stamp. That needs to disappear before high school.
James George Janos, b. 7-15-1951, made a name for himself in the original WWF (the anagram for "World's Wealthiest Fakers") as 'wrestler' Jesse Ventura; then, later in politics (mikedt, I already know that you're fully informed about Mr. Ventura).
His recent television series about conspiracy theories keeps him on the map, and for him to go from wrestling, to State-level politics, and get TV tenure about conspiracies - well, my hat's off to him. Is it true that he served in the US Armed Forces as a Navy Seal team member? LW

You should see how uncomfortable and irritated my dad gets whenever a tampon/pad commercial comes on.
It should be like toilet paper. You know it exists, go buy it.

mikedt, that kind of wrestling is purely for the soap-opera entertainment it provides. These guys work out in the gym to get the 'look', then, practice choreographed moves that are more 'grandstanding' than real, Greco-Roman style wrestling... while Vince McMahon's writers create plots that include rivalries between the participating wrestlers, alliances, and plenty of female entertainment...
It's all BS.
Over here in the States, WWE's demographic consists of people who aren't of the very sentient variety... plenty of guys with mullet haircuts, and, women who like loud, boisterous men with muscular bodies.
Which is what WWE provides...
I'd rather sit through sub-titled European "B-rolls", than subject myself to that kind of entertainment. Too brash, too loud, too... fake.
Last night, I watched a 2014 film called "Gone Girl", with Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike in the lead roles.
Totally engrossing, downright shocking, and worth the $4.99 spent on Video On Demand.
I wouldn't watch WWE "Raw", or "Smackdown" if someone paid me. That's my nickel. Give me romantic comedies, and a thriller every once in awhile... LW![]()
Film franchises like the Taken series, and other action films (Jason Statham) are cool with me.I agree, WWE is trashy as hell. I had a roommate in college that liked it, and I watched an episode with him....the drama was so cheesy and fake...I can't believe anybody enjoys it.
Now...romcoms, I'm not a big fan of. I'll watch the occasional one if I'm watching it with somebody, but when I'm picking my films, I generally go with a good action movie. Movies from the 80's are the best here, but I do enjoy modern stuff too. Just rewatched Die Hard with a Vengeance the other night. I can't get enough of that stuff.
