Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

I hate the people who only clean off a couple of porthole-sized openings in the snow on their cars. Then you have to drive through a rooster tail of snow when you get stuck behind them, or worse yet, a big chunk of permafrost flies into your windshield.
Finally Mass State Police are issuing unsecured load fines for people that don't clean their car off all the way.:thumbupdroid:

After our NC Ice Storm, I was armed with scrapers for the windows and mirrors on our car - for the rest, lots of hot water.

No icicles. Most of the ice has melted on lawns, but, our low last night was 8°F. Throw in the wind, and 48% humidity, and it feels colder.

It's going to warm up today. LW

I've spend the last three weeks digging a lovely moat in the snow around my house. Can't wait for the rain this weekend to fill it up.

The Moderators and Guides here have always done a stellar job.

If you want an excellent example of a site that appears to run in an orderly fashion that is, in reality, far from it - there's only one:

Craigslist.

This is the only site that I've seen that can, A: set you up with a protitute; B: enable you to establish contact with the aforementioned; C: with a few more clicks of the mouse, you can get hooked up with bootleg antibiotics, should you and subject A decide to 'do the deed' without adequate protection against STDs.

Android Forums can be accessed with my Ghostery browser; not so, for Craigslist.

This is definitely a cool place, with diverse members, and very good security.

Now, let's see if Google/Android can design a working 'sex bot' that won't track you. Not that I have any need for something like that, but, Google's system is becoming very Bing-like...

Time to start deodorizing the house. Today is the special kid's scheduled flight back east to live with a relative. I assume he's on his way. He gets belligerent really easy and he's unescorted on the plane, so I'm keeping an eye on the news, lol.

Last night, we watched World War Z, with Brad Pitt.

Brad's 2013 contribution to the current rash of zombie films was... unnerving.

Hopefully, your former roommate will keep a low profile. Have a goof Saturday. LW

Took an embarrasing spill today at lunch. I was walking to the gas station near my office. Crossing the landscaping between the parking lots, I lost traction in the dirt and turfed it. Very embarrassing because I was walking slowly and surely. Just randomly gave out. I twisted so I wouldn't land on my phone, and fortunately nothing was hurt but my pride. Must have been hilarious to watch though....the homeless guy sitting nearby got a good chuckle.

Can't have my saturdays too boring I guess.

It can also get you murdered. Older couple looking for classic Mustang murdered for the car payment. Another killing the week after.

What really grinds my gears??? My idiot husband come home with a Windows tablet. Seriously the biggest piece of garbage I have seen in a very long time....
Tell your husband that
an Android tablet, with
a good office app, can
exchange .doc, .docx,
and .pdf files with
anything from
Winblows, and, for less
money.

If he wants reliability, he won't get it from Win 8/8.1 - even with the free upgrade coming soon to Win 10, Microsoft has proven that you cannot take an OS, and spread it like Skippy Peanut Butter across computers, tablets and smartphones running Intel CPUs... LW

To everyone:

My lady's having a bad day. A doctor's visit, and prescriptions haven't helped.

Send some positivity her way, via yours truly - and make her day improve, if not become great. Thanks, all - LW

You think I LET him do this? Stubborn as an ass. He had rebate coupons for Staples, so total cost was $20.00. I told him (begged, actually) to return it, spend the extra for ANY Android tablet. Honestly, he hates it, and can barely use it, but will not return it.

No one needs to sell me on Android. I got the original Droid on release day, and never looked back. I have the original Samsung Galaxy Wi-Fi only (10.1 inch) tablet, and a Razr Maxx phone. Oldest daughter has same phone, son has HTC1, youngest daughter has Samsung Galaxy s4 and a Samsung 7 inch tablet. (Which my husband won, but she commandeered.)

Happiest 5 words I could ever hear were from youngest, last week.... "Mom, root my phone, please"

So..... I will let my Blackberry Curve (Yes, you read that correctly..) using husband struggle to play with his 7 inch Lenovo Windows tablet..... Until I can't stand it anymore, and can find a good, inexpensive Android for him.

Oh, and it could have been worse, but he knew about Apple product in my house is grounds for a divorce....

Windows 8 is a very sore subject for me right now.

Speaking of which, it appears my bsods are being caused by the kd.dll driver and nstokrnl.exe. Any ideas as to what they are for? I've reinstalled windows 3 times now

Unfortunately, I have no idea. When I bought my laptop about 8 years ago, it came with Windows Vista installed. I paid Dell extra to downgrade and include disks. Still running XP. My son started college and a laptop last year. Has touch screen with Windows 8. Latest upgrade screwed it up...

I'll find out for you, bjacks - LW

kd.dll is a VGA boot
driver; and,
nstokrnl.exe is a core
system program file.

It states in the Microsoft queries that the 64-bit computers are being affected by these BSODs.

What is interesting is that many 64-bit powered Wintel and WinAMD computers ship with Windows 8 32-bit OSs (to keep the price point where Toshiba, Dell, et al want them to be).

Find these files at Microsoft tech support/downloads, and see if you can get rid of the blue, or black screen... hope this helps. LW
