Help Razr m took a bath...

...in the toilet. It worked fine like nothing ever happened, until the battery died. Now it won't turn on and when we plug it in the led is solid green for less than 5 minutes and then goes off. I guess what I'm wondering is, are we screwed? I know Motorola won't touch it now and I'm pretty sure Verizon won't either. Ideas?

throw it in a bag of rice for 24 hours, and wait another 24 afterward before turning it on.

Great advice. In this case it may be too late. If you ever get one of them immersed do NOT turn them on. Try the drying first. Some people say leave it off for three days with no rice.

I had a similar oopsie with a Droid Eris a couple years back. Total submersion (only for a few seconds though) and like an idiot I immediately cycled the power (it was on when it got dunked) and got a scrambled screen. Took it apart and dried it out as best I could, turned it on AGAIN and got the same thing, so I put the phone and it's battery (separate) in a bag of rice, sealed it and let it sit for 24 hours. The next day I dusted it off, put it all back together and powered it up-- and it worked just fine (and still does actually). If the rice trick worked for a last gen phone like the Eris, it should work for the Razr M. Only caveat is not being able to open the phone up to get at the inside, but maybe leave the phone in the rice for an extra day to make sure? Looking forward to your update!

DO not ever ever ever turn on a phone that got wet until it is thoroughly dried out. Bag of rice or a dehumidifier will work just fine.

A week ago, the same thing happened to mine. I was devastated as I've only had my RAZR M for a couple months. I turned if off and threw it in rice for 24 hours. When I turned it on and charged it up it worked perfectly. The next day the battery quit charging. I turned it back off thinking all was lost, but after another day and a half I plugged it in and it charged right up like nothing had happened. I guess it just needed to get that last bit of moisture out of it. When it wasn't working I called the local Cell Phone Repair shop who said they could attempt a "water damage cleanup process" for $65 and that it had a 60% success rate. Seems like a pretty good deal given that the warranty would be voided with the water damage anyway....maybe that nanocoating did the heavy lifting for me after that swim....
