Razr Maxx or Galaxy Nexus?

You must not txt on wifi, common problem where it won't send the messages. Search must be broken. that's one example. If the samsung droid charge is any example, we will get a proper update in october. The mumblings about the middle of this month are something I'm hoping for. I check for updates several times a day/night.
I haven't had nor heard of those problems. I text on WiFi all the time. I have no search problems either. What is the problem with your searching?

I'm not having any trouble with searching, texting, IM either. He needs to clarify what kind of apps under what connection are giving him issues.

very rarely i'll have an issue where an outgoing mms fails to send if i'm connected to wifi. i think it's because the phone has to reestablish the cell data connection and sometimes it takes a while. so the app times out. i resend and it goes through just fine the next time. never had any issues with sms. my thunderbolt did the same thing.

I spend, at minimum, 80% of my day on wifi (I work from home). Often I spend 100% of my day on Wifi. I have never, ever, had a text message fail to send.

Never had an issue with search either.

Like I said, maybe you had a broken phone.

I don't think the two are related. WiFi only comes into play with texting if you're using it across Google Voice. Like, my Inc (WiFi only) still gets my GV texts. It doesn't get my normal SMS/MMS texts because that's on the network, not WiFi.

I've actually never tried that before. You can go into airplane mode, on WiFi and still get normal texts? I thought SMS/MMS were transferred through your cell signal, like a phone call, not through your internet/data connection.

I am about to upgrade (today on my lunchbreak) from my HTC-Thunderbolt to the Gnex. The main reason is that you have to jump through hoops to get an aosp android experience with any other phone out there. But you get that right out of the box with the Gnex. Plus more devs are working on this phone than any other.
The only thing I'll miss is my kickstand, but you can buy cases that have kickstands built-in.

Gnex is the best android phone out there right now, IMO.

Texts have always worked perfectly fine when the phone is connected to wifi. People saying it doesn't need to figure out what they messed up or if their phone is broken.

there is a difference between an sms text and an mms message. if you send a txt i don't think it requires a data connection, only a regular cell signal. with mms, such as when sending a picture, i think you do need a data connection.

Gnex in hand. YAY!!!

Find my post I just made the other day. I've had both phones, they both have their plus and minus. I give an unbiased review. You can't go wrong with either. I'm loving the Maxx since I've flashed ICS, but even without, it's still a great phone. Decide what you want the most out of a phone. No one here can tell you what's the best phone for you.
