Razr Maxx or Galaxy Nexus?

I had the razr and seen the maxx to me theres no phone on market that touches the galaxy nexus. This is truly a great phone and will be for a long time..

This is the android device i think i can say we all waited for on verizon dont pass it up nexus baby.

still not sure. does the galaxy's 5mp camera compare to the maxx's 8mp? also, does the galaxys extended battery make the phone a big uncomfortable device or is it still comfortable and not so bulky that will still last a work day?

The Galaxy Nexus camera is as good, if not better, than the RAZR MAXX's (assuming it's the same as the RAZR's). 5MP vs. 8MP does not really mean much as the quality of the images is not affected simply by having more or less megapixels.

The extended battery for the Galaxy Nexus is essentially the same size as the standard battery. It's like a mm or two bigger and you seriously cannot even tell. Proof of this is evident by the fact that with the extended battery, the Galaxy Nexus fits in almost every case made for the standard battery.

I owned a RAZR for a week before the Galaxy Nexus. There simply is no comparison. Indeed the RAZR (MAXX) is a great phone; however, it's awkward to hold because of just how thin it is and the outdated OS is way behing ICS. I realize the MAXX will have more battery, but the extended battery does quite well. I make it 18-24 hours on a charge with 2+ hours of screen on time, widgets syncing throughout the day, and some voice calls. Plus, if you have the spare battery, when you travel you can just swap in the new one. I can assure you the extended plus standard battery gets more life than the built in RAZR MAXX battery.

I say nexus, but check out the camera and shoot some test images to make sure you are ok with it. if its that important to you. i dont think its that good. serviceable, but not great

my experience with the Bionic has caused me to lose interest in any smartphone made by Moto, my GNex is a huge upgrade

the razr has the extra port for hdmi to watch like movies to the tv, does the galaxy do the same thing with?

Is this something you plan to do often enough to give up all the benefits that come with the Galaxy Nexus?

In any event, the Galaxy Nexus doesn't have an HDMI port; however, you can purchase an MHL adapter and stream the video from your phone to your TV. There are cheaper ones out there, but here's an example: Amazon.com: MHL MicroUSB to HDMI Adapter: Computers & Accessories

i would most definetly not being using the hdmi option often, i was just curious. i have read ics has had some problems and some apps dont work with it, would the razr maxx be getting ics any time soon? still am not sure witch to get

I'm starting to think you're just trolling. I'll answer your last question, but then, if you are actually considering these two phones, I'll let you do some research on your own.

From what I read, ICS has a few issues (although I personally have not experienced any). That said, Gingerbread (which is on the RAZR MAXX) has its own set of issues. All operating systems have issues, iOS, Gingerbread, ICS, Windows Mobile, etc. ICS works excellent, regardless of any minor issues some might experience. The apps issue I don't know anything about as I have not had a single app cause me any issues with ICS.

Your initial question asked which is the better phone. That's subjective, however, the Galaxy Nexus is, in most people's opinion, the better phone - largely because of ICS. The MAXX has the battery life advantage, but it's also a disadvantage that it can't be swapped out. If you're not trolling, go check them out at the store and see which you like better.

Nexus will have faster updates. And of course ICS. My 2 main reasons for getting it. Razor Max will have better battery, but who knows when it'll get ICS and updates.

whats so bad with the bionic?

i have frequent data issues (4g connection drops and doesn't resume, 4g-3g toggling, etc), and frequent BSODs (black screen of death). the BSOD in particular is most annoying because the phone will not receive calls or texts when it locks up, and the only way to know if its locked up is to constantly turn the screen on to check. i missed a lot of calls like that, really annoying. Moto distributed one update in the last 5 months and it really didn't improve anything. i tried a refurb, same thing. check out the bionic forum here or over in XDA, or the official moto support forums, i think you'll get the picture.

i bought the GNex on 12/15 because i needed a phone that worked. it has been fantastic - solid 4g data connection where my Bionic drops data, and no lockups at all, it's completely stable. i am very happy with it.

Nexus camera is awful. If camera is important to you shop elsewhere

How so? I don't think it's SPECTACULAR. But it's a good camera, especially for 5MP. I haven't messed with the razr, but I had the bionic and i heard the razr also has a slightly slow camera like the bionic. That was a huge downfall to me about the bionic. I feel the nexus takes good and fast pics.

Audio out quality is quite poor on the Samsung, on par with the iphone. My old BB 9700 was far superior for streaming Pandora and playing mp3s through my car stereo and headphones. The eq in the music app is a joke. The BB Pandora app had an eq that actually worked, non existent on ics. Other than that, the battery life is fine as long as you have a decent cell signal. The razr should have ics soon, but will also have branding on the front which is a deal breaker for me.

the camera, battery and gingerbread/ics is whats stumping me from choosing..i want a good camera, the battery is better on maxx but what if it goes and it cant be replaced since its built in,and i want ics but since im hearing the razr maxx will be getting ics idk

Not a terribly hard decision dude. Here:
A/ B
Screen/ Battery
Stock ICS/ Gingerbread (Moto ICS at some point)
Long Term Support/ Moto-short term support
Fast Camera/ 8MP camera
External Battery Options/ Bad Battery = New Phone
Somewhat laggy live wallpapers/ Normal Live wallpapers

If column A looks more attractive, go with Nexus, if B, go with Razr Maxx. It should be noted that the laggy live wallpapers is due to ICS, and should be fixed at some point in time when ICS is in most phones.

Battery hardly an issue size wise. Battery losing juice definitely an issue.

There are minor bugs maybe they're really quirks during the learning curve. Whatever.

There isn't a phone device that comes anywhere near the galaxy nexus. I walked around for two months w a $5 pay go waiting for the launch.

ICS is everything I wanted and more. From the look to the speed to the overall feel. I love this phone añd its stunning and powerful interface. The best and the worst is I'm forced to push past MY limitations and lack of knowlege that sometimes aggravate and frustrate me.

But Im learning. Fast. With this phone and its incredible potential you can't not learn.
