Root Rcovery

My recovery mode freezes!

I was upset that Virgin mobile refused to release the 2.3 update. so I flashed and threw Cyanogenmod 7.2 on it my VM670. It runs fantastically, battery life is longer, responds faster. Unfortunately, I do not have the Gapps package.

I found the zip of the Gapps pack, and when I plugged my phone into my computer, I found that I had no Mass Storage available. Also, Debugging is no longer working either. I ended up emailing the package to myself, and storing it on the SD card. But then I had to boot in recovery. No problem, I have done it a thousand times. But now the recovery mode freezes before it completely boots. So I can't boot in recovery, I don't have access to the market, and I don't even have USB Mass Storage. WHAT DO I DO!?! I just want to back it up to 2.2 for full functionality...

I really appreciate that! I now have USB functionality. Any ideas on how to either add Gapps or revert to an older ROM without Gapps or Recovery mode? Everything else I have looked at here requires the use of Recovery mode. :/

Nevertheless, I really really appreciate the drivers. One step closer to having a fully functioning phone again!

You need a recovery and to then flash gapps through recovery. There are quite a number of threads about how to get a recovery working on your Optimus.

I have recovery ROMs. I just cannot access them. I need to have recovery MODE to at least get Gapps and be a happy android user again. As I said earlier, I have the zip file, on the SD card root directory, I have everything ready. But whenever I boot into recovery mode, it locks up.

The recovery is separate from the ROM, it's basically a mini OS.

Download this recovery (it's safe on all versions of the Optimus V):
VM670NH_recovery.img

Place it on your sdcard.

Next, download ROM Tools from here:
ROMTools.v231.by.mmmark111v.zip - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download - jem Lyn

Unzip it to your C:\ drive and rename it to something easy to type like romtools.
You can use ROM Tools now if you like, or just follow these instructions:

1- Open a command prompt on your PC
2- CD into the directory containing ROM Tools, ex: cd c:\romtools
3- Type the following: adb remount
4- Type the following: adb shell
5- type the following inside the adb shell:
Code:
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/NAME_OF_RECOVERY_ZIP_FILE
exit
So long as there are no errors, you should now have your new recovery installed and ready to boot into. ;)
