Root re name a nandroid

I have a little problem. the nandroids I have are all labeled with a date and time. when I try to put letters in the name it does not work.. when i put a different number at the end it does not work... my question being : what is the proper formate so my phone recognize the file.. Or what are the" Rules of thumb":D when renaming a nandroid...I am thinking that its a numbers only club which is ok but when I make a nandroid the "time" is not correct. Can I put my own time in place of it and does it have to be in a 4 digit formate.

Weird...as far as naming is concerned just dont use special characters that can't be typed in a command prompt. I usually add a dash and then a quick name like -kingsr4 at the end...

I would be very careful of renaming nandroids. Sometimes your phone wont recognize it and it wont flash it. I had it happen to me. I renamed them so they'd be easier to know what's what. I now just create the nandroid then copy the file name of the nandroid and save it on evernote and i list the rom and kernal for each nandroid. works perfect!

I will try this but pretty sure it wont work.. I have tried replacing the last 4 digits with a name and my phone would not take it.. and I tried putting a name at the end of it with no space and still no luck.. I will try a dash

Well I never delete what it has assigned just dash and add

What exactly do you mean by it doesn't work? Do you mean that you try to rename it, and it won't rename, or do you mean you rename it, and you can no longer restore it? There's a big difference between the two :).

Renamed it with the phone and it worked... I think what I was doing wrong was I had moved one to my pc and then renamed it. Just tried installing it other day no luck. Not sure if my pc recognised it. But it seams of u rename it with the phone it works fine... tHaNkS guys

Theoretically, that shouldn't matter. You're saying you copied a backup to your computer, renamed it, then copied it back to your phone? If so, what exactly happened when you tried to restore it? Did it fail part of the way through? Were you not even able to see it?
