Root re-root after rom change fail

Wipe cache initially

Wait, do we know your erase size?

terminal emulator says 40000 m8

im pretty sure it wasnt .this size when i first rooted the phone though?

ok now i know this ..is there a different route i should be going ?

ive found loads of threads concerning pvt4 and erase size 40000 and to be honest im just getting more confused trying to figure it all out..

cheers

im 100% sure it was, these are hardware sizes they cannot be changed

you cannot use CWM, you must use amonRA 2.0.1 for bravo
do not try and restore any backups you created with cwm 4.x as tbh its a baddie and also if you try and restore it from AmonRA it will result in a usb brick.

flash AmonRA 2.0.1
backup current rom with amonRA
flash new rom of choice without a problem

to be honest m8 ive given up on the idea of flashing a new rom for now..
i just want to return my phone to the way it was before i cocked it up trying to put a leedroid HD rom on a desire:cool:..

the stock rom is working fine at the moment but lost root access so i cant use titanium backup and other root apps

if i flash AmonRA 2.0.1 and use it to restore my original backup from my sdcard will i get root access back ..the reason im asking is the current rom is obviously corrupt in some way because ive lost root access..
if thats a no then am i right in thinking i need to use a stock rom after installing AmonRA?

so if i flash AmonRA to my phone and flash the teppic74s [ROM] [20/06] Pre-rooted Stock Froyo (2.29.405.5) [Optional mods] that SUroot recommended earlier..

will this allow me to restore all my apps/contacts/ect from my titanium backup..

cheers

the reason it cocked up is because of rom manager, nothing else

as i stated above you cannot restore the backup as its corrupt anyway and if you did amonRa would throw a hissy fit as its a different type of recovery
you will need to bite the bullet and understand that what ever you had as a rom before could be dead
at best you could try flashing amonRA via fastboot then flash teppics stock rom over the top without wiping, if it boots you may be lucky and have kept the stuff you had before

if it doesnt boot youll need to wipe the device and reflash and cut your losses and have a fresh device

right ive bit the bullit:p..
i tried putting AmonRA 2.0.1 on with unrevoked 3.2.1 ...
and again all im getting is

internal error cant find misc

this is all i get when ive tried to do anything with any version of unrevoked

mick

sorry m8 forgot that bit:o
ok that worked .
do i now put teppics rom on sdcard and flash it from the recovery screen on the phone

mick

it seems i have finally managed to get root back :D:D
i did the flash and after a few mins my phone booted up to my main screen ..
all my apps and data are still there and contacts:eek:

i have to thank everyone for all the help i have recieved these last couple of days

cheers guys

mick

its no problem
1st things first
uninstall rom manager and do not touch it again as its bad
delete the old backup as its useless to you now as you are using amonRA due to your erase size
go back to amonRA recovery (manually) and do a backup.

there are loads of roms to try, i would recommend going to the desire developers section on XDA forums and looking at the rom sticky there as they are the more solid and stable builds

enjoy

however there is that version availble on teppics thread which means you downloaded an older one

do a backup of this rom from amonRA and install it from his thread
