Hey guys, just lost my phone and it looks like it's gone for good. Any recommendations? I'm mainly going to use it for gaming, watching movies, listening to music and surfing the web. I'd like something with some powerful hardware. Thanks guys.

Who is your wireless provider or are you up for a new contract with any wireless provider?

I currently don't have one. I had a family plan with and since my phone is gone, it didn't make sense to keep me on the plan.

I'm sure there are varying opinions on what wireless provider you should go to but maybe you should narrow your search by what kind of phone you want. HTC, iPhone, Samsung..... then find which provider has the phone you want. Do you want 4G or is 3G sufficient? Manual keyboard or virtual keyboard?

I personally have Sprint and I haven't had any issues with the coverage so if you went to Sprint, I would recommend the Evo 3D.

I've been mulling Sprint as a choice and it seems valid. I guess I would like an android phone, touchscreen, up-to-date hardware is a must, camera doesn't have to been state of the art but it would be nice. This is going to be my first smartphone so i'm too aware of the differences between 3 and 4G.

Well, if Sprint is your choice, I did see that they are going to have great deals on most android phones on Black Friday. Namely, the Evo 3D. Normally $199, down to $99 for new contracts. You may be able to get a better deal somewhere else but I would recommend the Evo 3D. HTC has been very solid on upgrading their phones when it comes to os upgrades and I heard that Google's latest OS, ICS(Ice Cream Sandwich) will be coming to the 3D in the near future.

The only drawback, in my opinion, is that Sprint will be moving to LTE next year and wimax(4G) will be gone. Not sure how it's going to affect wimax phones:confused:

I think the most two powerful android phones available on the market now are Samsung Galaxy S2 and HTC Sensation XE. If you really want phones with powerful hardware, these 2 are definitely unbeatable.

Oh wow, thank you. It certainly seems like it might be worth it. Just still on the fence between both companies.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i think the HTC Rezound beats both the SGS2 and the Sensation XE, hardware-wise.

If I'm not wrong, both the Rezound and Sensation XE are powered by Qualcomm 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon with Adreno 220 (MSM8260 vs MSM8660). The only real difference between these 2 chips is the networks they operate on (GSM vs CDMA). Since they are both using Adreno 220, I don't see any reason why they should outperform the ARM Mali 400-MP in Galaxy S2 in terms of graphic performance.

Started looking at the plans and wow, Verizon's just ridiculously overpriced.

You get what you pay for. Around here At&t and Sprint services arent worth dogshit, dropped calls constantly, painfully slow downloads and horrible customer service.

True, on the other hand the Rezound has 720x1280 screen resolution compared to the SGS2's 480x800, and Beats audio system.
Well, i guess it's just a matter of preference.

The Sensation (all versions), Evo 3D, and Rezound all use the same CPUs/GPUs. Just that the Evo 3D and OG Sensation (for lack of better terms) are underclocked to 1.2 GHz for battery conservation. One of the very first things people did when the Evo 3D was temporary rooted was removed the underclock and went straight to 1.5 GHz.

I really would recommend you pick your carrier, first. VZW is expensive, but they have the best coverage. Sprint / T-Mo have the best prices, but Sprint may not have strong coverage in your area and who knows what's going to happen to T-Mo. AT&T sucks in this area, so I don't even pay them any attention.

So see if anyone you know has T-Mobile or Sprint in your area and see if they like their carrier/coverage. Even people with dumbphones would be able to give you a good idea. Check their coverage maps, too. They will show cell coverage, 3G and 4G coverage maps.

Sprint rocks in my area, so I couldn't be happier to have ditched VZW. But that's not always the case for everyone.

Yea, I'm in the Columbus, Ohio area and have awesome coverage. 4G works great and having 4 phones with unlimited data, 1500 min and we're paying under $190. Pretty decent if you ask me:)

Sounds like a pretty sweet deal. Again, to me, it seems like $190 for 1 line is going way overboard on VZ network. Sprint is probably the better deal anyway.

If you need a new phone and carrier doesn't matter go for the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon. Just pick up a Razr and return it when the Nexus is released.

If you don't want Verizon, get a Galaxy S II, I recommend the Sprint version (Epic 4G Touch)

Well my budget for one line would be around 120 max.

How many minutes are you looking to have on a plan? I have VZW with 450 minutes and unlimited text plus data and its around $95 with taxes. I am in Kentucky and came from at&t because of their terrible service and lack of 3g. I can go almost anymore now and have 3g with VZW. You really do get what you pay for as far as quality of the network.

Most powerful Android phone to date is still the the Galaxy S II, just avoid the Skyrocket and T-Mobile version.

Best screen would goto the Galaxy Nexus but it does lack in some other areas.

Qualcomm are playing the MHz race, hoping to fool people into thinking higher operating frequencies mean faster performance, The Cortex A9 is significantly faster clock for clock compared to the dual core scorpions from qualcomm so even at 1.2GHz Exynos CPU still has the edge.

Seems they are doing the same with their next SoC, operating frequencies exceeding 2GHz.

Mail 400MP is much faster than Adreno 220, no comparison at all there really.
