Trying to make a custom recovery before flashing a rom, keep getting the phone with red error triangle, android flasher said it flashed but also mention possible missing drivers what am i missing ore needing to do

First of all, if you''re trying to switch recoveries I would suggest doing it manually in H-boot.

Switching Recoveries

speaking of recovery i would really recommend that everyone switch to amon ra 2.3. it is a much better recovery then clockwork mod. you can get the recovery here:PC36IMG RA 2.3.zip
here are the instructions:
1.download the file.
2.rename the file by erasing the "_RA_2.3" part of the name so that it is only named PC36IMG. make sure not to add ".zip" to the name as windows hides extensions.
3.transfer the file to the root (that means not in any folder) of the sd card.
4.power off (you most likely need to uncheck fastboot. settings/apps/uncheck fastboot.) then press and hold power+vol down.
5.hboot should see the file and select yes to update.
6.select no to reboot because we want to go into recovery and make a nandroid backup.
7.select recovery.
8.select backup and restore and select backup
9. select the first three and wimax. the other partitions do not need to be backed up. always keep one nandroid backup with wimax keys backed up on your computer.
10.now you can reboot.
11.using a file manager of some sort or even through your computer via usb, you should rename or delete the PC36IMG file on your card. otherwise you will be asked to update every time you go to the hboot screen. you do not need that file any more.

I think we definitely need a better explanation of what you're trying to do. I have no idea what Android Flasher is.

If you want to install a custom recovery, you can do it in the bootloader as Rxpert lists above. It's very easy to install.

Yeah, I remember OCN has a thread about it on here a while ago, but I never attempted to give it a go.

Changing recoveries is easily done without it though

Good to know. Hopefully I never have to mess with it. I'd like for my Evo to last long enough for me to get my hands on a quad core.
Agreed. But one thing to think about - if HTC allows for unlocked bootloaders on all their new devices (as they have been doing), you'll have to use the HTCDev method to unlock your new device. It might be a good time to try it out on your EVO to get used to how it's done, so you won't have any worries about unlocking in the future. Just something to think about ;).

Thats true, I imagine going forward thats going to be a large part of gaining root for every HTC device.

Hadnt thought of that

Yeah I am trying to flash a recovery after the htc unlocker,I did eventually remember to extract the img file, but then I got lost my internet kept going out which really messed up my process.I haven't tried the listed way yet because i couldnt get the file at first,if he's up for it i will try today and thanks for the help,I'm not sure what info to give to be more specific

Bootloader comes up but I'm guessing since I havent created the custom recovery its nothing there wheb i go to recovery?

Yes, you need to flash a custom recovery next. Without that, you can't get root access.

Leave it zipped. Also, I think the file needs to be renamed to PC36IMG.zip, just dont name it PC3img.zip.zip, as windows hides extensions.

What hboot version do you have?

It said on the Androif Flasher OP that the ENG bootloader was required. I haven't messed with Androd Flasher before, so I'm not sure about the specifics.

Is the ENG hboot required to use the utility, or will it work on others?

I'll read the thread and see what I can see. :)

Thanks guys I figured it out i didnt use android flasher I went the "old fashioned"wag I guess and flashed through the bootloader, thanks so much anybody know where to find update info on the radiance rc rom and energy sensationXL 3.5 Rom
