Root Redux battery life AMAZING!!!

You should find better USB transfer speeds with all .35 kernels. Newer ones are slower for some reason.

I have noticed that, yes, but in Ubuntu the transfer speeds I get are around 3mg per second, which is cool by me.

this kernel is excellent, but I do love ManU's work.

I don't know what I am getting with Ubuntu tbh. when I transfer it doesn't give me a rate. How are you checking? I'm on Lucid.

I'm on Natty Narwhal, and I just copied some music via Banshee and 300mg took about 2 minutes. So by my calculations it's about 2.5mg per second. Which is TONS better than I was getting on Windows 7, even with the .35 kernels. I was getting MAX 1mg per second. I recommend the Ubuntu upgrade man, it's slick.

Must add, interactions on this forums really has encouraged me to be more active, as I've learnt a ton here. Some other I've been on, wow, people can be so rude, for no reason.

I like manu as I can change the VDD levels to 875mV (or whatever I want)

SU, any chance of a pointer to a walk through of how to do this (assuming it will help battery life?)

Just want to have a read through to see if I would be able to get to grips with it.

You can do it temporarily via terminal emulator to test which is lost at reboot. Try this first.

Look for eviollets thread on xda. How to in first few posts

Right, i've been using Redux now for a good few days and i think i'm having issues with battery drain somewhere along the line as battery life isn't particularly great, in as much as if i unplug at 8am the battery is pretty much completely dead well before 10pm with fairly low use. Low use consisting of checking facebook, a couple of calls and a few texts and emails.

Since unplugging at 8 this morning ive had two phone calls, checked facebook twice and sent about 5 texts and lost almost 15% battery, which sounds very very high.

Is there anything in particular that would be worth checking or that i may have missed which may be causing battery drain? I know this may be asking for people to stab in the dark but just wondered if there's a particular re-occuring problem that people come across?

thanks

Is the wifi sleep policy set to never? It should be. Whats the display usage showing as in percentage terms?

right, well i had plugged my phone in after posting so had to give it a bit of time... hopefully you can pull enough from the stats i got here:

2h 16m on battery - 10% used
display - 56%
cell stand by - 21%
phone idle - 19%
android os - 4%
mobi.mgeek.Tunnybrowser - 2%

I've probably sent 5 texts and received 5/6 emails in that time, phone has sat idle otherwise. Man U 1.4 HAVS AXI CFS kernel - screen off profile 128 min/245 max

Ive just tested what i can get out of the battery and managed 3 days but barely used it.
If i hammer the phone during the day it will only last the day but can get 3 days with v little use.
This is using the standard themed version with supplied kernel! :D

here you are. Gingerbread AOSP only! ;)

hello shauny...how do i install this kernel...do i need to wipe some cache or partitions or jus use the install options on clockworkmod recovery(have got a htc desire on redux 1.2)...a lil new to the root scene and am njoing it so far..thanks

Just flash it like a rom. (nandroid first to be safe). You might have to toggle signature verification off. (this is done in recovery also)

My latest offering after going back to 1.4 (airplane mode overnight)

Are you using the smartass governor? What screen off profile do you have if any?

Screen is a big killer of battery. What's your screen on time?

No, i have set it as On demand, also i don't have an option as scrren off, not using setcpu...minimum freequency-128 mhz, max..1075...as per one of your post....
also powersave mode is not on....screenstate scaling is on....

screen timeout in display is 1 minute...

Thanks
Shyju
