Release date: 6/24 nationwide; 6/21 for SP members.

If they do, maybe I can FINALLY go through my Corporate purchasing to make it more convenient.

Yeah they do. Just drove by the Sprint store today and they have a big sign up. I'm excited to leave big red and join you guys on the Sprint network.

PS - I'm really stoked for the 20mbps LTE speeds Sprint is going to give me when I come over

Speculation, in my own humble opinion...

The iPhone 5 is going to release between Early June and Late September. If Sprint wants to lock consumers in, they must release the EVO at least 2 weeks prior to Apple realeasing the new iPhone. Following this logic, and assuming the rumor of it not being released until September is true, then we may all be in for a longer wait than anticipated. However, if the iPhone 5 is going to follow the past 4, then we can expect a release date of the EVO 3D right around the last week of May (at the EARLIEST) to the second week of June (towards the back end of optimal marketing time). If any of this is to be true, then we must expect more news of the EVO 3D to begin floating around within the next 2-3 weeks, FCC clearing in 4-5 weeks, and finalization around the second to last week of May.

However, this is all pure speculation from a marketing standpoint. Feel free to critique this any way you like.

I personally dont care about the iPhone, but I have heard that they will probably not be releasing one via Engadget until the fall this year. That being said, I do understand the point you are making... But if the fruit phone is not released until the fall, this point should not be a factor.

Sprint would be the dumbest company on earth to make the Evo3D go head to head with the iPhone5 when we have no idea what Apple has up it's sleeve.

Hopefully Sprint is not that stupid, and learned something from watching the Xoom go down in flames.

Launch the Evo3D 1 year after the Evo1. Don't let Apple control the game or have the Evo3D launch revolve around what Apple does.

While I totally agree with you on your last point (dont let iPhone dictate e3d release) I don't think it would be stupid of sprint at all to try to go toe to toe with Apple. Even though we dont know what the iPhone 5 will have, sprint should feel confident in its phone. Look at the iPhone 4 compared to the evo, both good phones and fairly even spec-wise, but the evo had 4g and iPhone 4 didn't. I think sprint and HTC can pull even farther ahead this year with the e3d vs iPhone 5. Im hoping it gets released in the may-June timeframe though (or may 1, my upgrade day) :D

Iiiiiiiiinteresting. The Pyramid and Evo 3D are supposed to be roughly the same thing last I checked (3D/RAM/ROM/Cameras aside), so the rumor that the Pyramid could be launching in Europe next week could mean that the 3D is closer to ready than we think? There's also the rumor that it'll be available in France in May, which which isn't that far off.

Rumor: HTC Pyramid to launch in UK at HTC Sensation next week

If its available in France in May then that would mean HTC is pretty much done with the hardware and software and it would be up to Sprint then to determine when the phone will be released.

I sure hope this is the case. Sprint needs to get this out ASAP, as far as I'm concerned. I've had my 2 year upgrade available since November, and I considered getting the EVO then, but thought I'd wait till CES to see what it brought. Well, January brought the EVO shift. Then Sprint decided to show off the Kyocera Echo. Then the HTC Arrive. I began to lose hope, then CTIA came, and so did I. The EVO 3D is going to be great.

Hmmm...last thing that's still keeping me interested in buying at Best Buy is the rewards zone points I get for buying cell phones through them. I'll have to wait and see. I'm still on the fence if I'm gonna upgrade or not.

I cannot stand Best Buy personally. Is that Rewards Zone membership decent?

It's not great, but it's convenient for me (4 locations within 5 miles or less from my house) and the main thing I purchase from there are gifts including gift cards and phone upgrades. With my EVO upgrade, as well as the EPIC I bought for another line, I got an extra 500 bonus points for both phones, so at the end of the year, I also got $40 in gift cards, which I ended up using during Cyber Monday (this past holiday) to basically get a Free PS3 game (just $.01 and tax to pay).

Oh okay. That's not a bad deal. I'm hoping Amazon has it for pretty cheap like they do the EVO 4G. Best Buy is my try before I buy store.

Side note: if you are thinking about doing any car audio at all, DO NOT use Best Buy. I was talking to the guy at the front about switched power on my wiring harness and he had no clue what I was talking about. That's not someone I would want putting my HU in my car.

That's what I thought. Likely the "$75 off with a one year" deal is actualy $75 off of retail (which is likely about $600).

But at that price ~525 vs 200 it would be cheaper to cancel the old account and buy a brand new contract. Termination fee in my contract is $175 less 5 each month = 125 in June. So new Evo would cost roughly $325.

I might try something like that, but I wasn't sure that you had to be an ex-Sprint customer for a period of time (e.g. 3 months) before they would consider you for new customer pricing. If that is the case, I would probably put 3D in wife's name and cancel my contract. If I wanted to keep my number, I may be able to port it to a prepaid and port it back to the 3D, but I don't know if cost is worth it. I may just use this as an opportunity to start giving out a Google voice number as my cell and not worry about it going forward.

They shouldn't play hardball considering we could just walk away and go with the competition. So another option is just to purchase the 3D as another phone on the account (it would be worth a number change to me) and then cancel the original evo afterwards. That's if they're going to object to canceling first.

Me too, actually. Before, they used to only do new accounts for Sprint, but I heard they started doing upgrades recently. I absolutely LOVE amazon. And I read an article that it was voted by consumers as the #1 trustworthy online retailer, which I completely agree with. I think that's the only other place I'd get my phone upgrade.

Re Side note: I 2nd that. Consumers will go there out of "convenience," but I've never met a car audio or even home theater employee at Best Buy that actually knew more than me (which isn't that much, but enough not ever to get shafted on home or car entertainment).

Agreed. Amazon is hands down my favorite retail store. I have nothing but good things to say about their business. I'm wondering how difficult it will be to add a line of service to an existing contract using Amazon.

Re "Re Side note": Oh that is absolutely the truth. And after they have told you they are not on commission they try and convince of things they are usually wrong about.

Hoping that it's a release date, highly doubtful, but one can hope...

If it's pre order day, perhaps they will announce a release date. That's a start.

Google latest (2.4) updates have been applied to EVO3D. Talking with Google it will remain to the public as 2.3. The latest updates have allowed us to tweak EVO3D to MDP MSM8660 GLBenchmark scores with out OC'ing. I would expect GLbenchmarks 3.0 to be posted in the next few weeks if (HTC,Sprint) allows it. Back on point, gold copy will be ready for company execs at the end April. I know there running into problems working out contracts for features to be included with EVO3D. I still feel Netflix, Hulu, and ESPN3D should be part of EVO3D. Everything else has been tested and ready to go. Presently working on software to allow 10mp pics, 180deg stadium shots. Everything else is done. Start seeing pre-EVO3D reviews expect a official launch date about a week later. I would like to project a launch time, but that is up to Sprint. I am hearing about a Sprint EVO3D launch Event. (Speculation ATM) There is so much more to be announced then what was mentioned at CTIA. CTIA never mentioned HTC Media Link, hardly touched on DNLA, and never metioned what MHL 2.0 has to offer, and expect to here something about Bluetooth 3.0 expanded library. Sprint needs to cover that at the launch.
BSOD

Sprint has gone on record saying "Summer Launch" would they really release this early like in May? I dont think they will.

They will stick to their "summer launch" June or July. They will want to hype this phone as much as possible before release.

my guess.....

sprint has always done summer big release... no reason to change that!

they need to have something out during the summer to answer to apple release.

4/11 might the day that website is launched... to give info of the EVO3d... more details.. schedule release... preorder dates.

i am still thinking the release will be in june; same as OG evo

Don't say this. Say it will be released May 11th!

I thought the same thing - 4/11 is when the website would launch. That first vanity link came down shortly after the Phandroid article.

This is what's sitting in its place - Sprint - HTC EVO? 3D

Coming this summer.

QFT - if we take that literally, that puts it at or past June 21.
