Release date

Actually you cannot return a phone twice and you will pay a $35.00 restocking fee if you return a phone if you got it through an upgrade.

Well I got mine from bestbuy on a new 2 yr activation coming from AT&T.

That twitter account has some interesting looking links. It also might be the best place for up to date news on release info although they keep saying the same thing to date.

@afazel Samsung and Sprint have not announced an availability date of the Epic 4G, but follow us here for the latest news. about 6 hours ago via web in reply to afazel

Anyone think this phone will be released in the next 30 days? I would not mind getting the EVO and then returning it once the Samsung is actually released...I'm switching from Verizon and can not wait to get away from big red.

Latest update although that's an old ass review they linked to

No final launch date yet, but the Sprint Epic 4G is getting closer. Nice review from techdaring.com - YouTube - Samsung Epic 4G preview about 1 hour ago via HootSuite

At least they say it's getting closer!

Edit: The presentation was pretty terrible, and I don't think I really learned anything new about the Galaxy S although I've already seen some reviews on it, so if you don't know anything about it it may be worth watching for you.

Yes, and this is the first day of the rest of your life! :D

All I know, is after all this waiting (for no apparent reason) there better be NO problems with this phone.

If Sprint is just sitting on it so they can sell more EVO's in the meantime, I might finailly switch carriers to verizon.

It's always "getting closer". This anticipation is probably the only thing I dislike about being a mobile phone fan. Epic 4g should be a fantastic device though.

All I know, is after all this waiting (for no apparent reason)...

Use the EVO as an example. EVO announced on 3/23/10. EVO available on 6/4/10. So that is 73 days.

Epic announced on 6/28/10. Add 73 days and the Epic should be available on 9/9/10.

Just using their past behavior to predict their future, who knows if it is correct or not, I am hoping for sooner rather than later.

On a side note, I talked to a Sprint corporate store yesterday and they said the Epic will be available in mid August. Take it for what it is worth...;)

Just a bit of quick background: I am a corporate customer of Sprint and Verizon's, and our rep is very connected, not because of the size of my organization, but because we were started by the same guy who started an extraordinarily huge company (they make boxes go from place to place is all I'll say), and so we get to piggy back on those perks. And perks they are.

So, let's just be clear. A dude selling you phones at a retail location of any phone service provider does not have any information about the release date of the Epic 4G right now, as much as they love tossing dates/months at you and watching you go "oooh, ok!". I'd put money on that.

Also, a manager at same said location will not have any information about the release date either.

You know EVO shortages? I can get an EVO for one of our employees next day. Not saying my you-know-what doesn't stink like the next guy's, just that I have a bit more of a link to the internal machinations in Sprint.....and the vast majority of Sprint HQ doesn't know when it's coming out. Management i'm sure does, as does Marketing, Warehouse, etc, but not retail. And not the "grunts", if you will, at HQ.

So, let's all take a huge breath *god knows I need one because I'm refreshing my browser on my intranet login to Sprint every 10 seconds watching for updates* and let it out *pssshhooooooo* and relax. It'll come out when it comes out. And then we can all make like that Arnie movie where he almost flattens a dude to buy a toy for his kid for Christmas.

:D

So what part of "Take it for what it is worth" don't you understand?

Mmkay. I was not targetting your post, in fact there was a "oh hey this retail guy knows!" post on the 1st page before yours, hence why I didn't respond to a post or quote a post. It was a general squashing of anyone's notions that retail folks know anything until right before it hits.

Relax, breathe in, breathe out, realize forums don't always have to be about trolls and evil, and then smile.

Wanna hug?

This one rings close to home because this will mark my first wait-in-line-on-launch-day event. I don't mind just ordering one and waiting for it to get here, but I won't risk production shortages keeping me from getting a phone again like I did with the EVO. It's been a month now and sprint still says they can't send me one.

I saw that too with the Epic 8/20 thing. I didn't understand it though cause everytime I clicked it it took me to the same video.

Also the Captivate came out on the 18th

Vibrant release was also moved up to the 15th.

So we may see the Epic between August 16-20. Good catch.
