[RELEASED] The 4.3 inch "Thunderbolt" aka "Mecha" aka "Incredible HD" from HTC...beyond coming soon!

Yea vzw really screwed the pooch making this a 4g device. Were getting 6 month old hardware if it launches this month. This device was fine and ready nov 23 2010. Now look. Tsk tsk :(

I think they would have to drop the price if it desnt ship with 4g support. Especially with the bionic, stealth and revolution not far off.

@black_man_x why not a software "downgrade" to disable 4g till all is good, then another update to renable it...xoom needs operation...

@huntken option being explored but device is so dependent on 4g and other tech it woudlnt be worth launching in only half the markets

remember when I asked wnat happens when u take half ur team to beef up existing network for a device n neglect ur new one? This is what..

I doubt they will release with only 3g. But who knows at this point. However wouldn't that be ironic lmao!

As per my "TB or not TB post", seems to make sense, due to likely pressure by BB and HTC. BB doing pre-orders and looking silly, plus HTC sitting on inventory.

Option one: Wait until mid summer (per VZW) for broader 4G coverage, or release now as 3G with 4G a specific market option, or not until summer.

I buy BMX posts... Well, I would lease them at least ;)

I wont be in a 4g area this year any way. But I wonder how the phone will operate 3g only? Bmx did say that it is dependent on 4g .

No it is not, the guy on droidforums.net who has had the phone for a week is living in a 3g only area and he say's its fine.

I don't see how it could be "dependent" on 4G. The 4G antenna is just another way for the phone to receive data. Besides video chat, I can't think of anything that 3G can't do.

In other words, "this is all Apples fault"

BMX is really making it seem like the big screw up is that Verizon was so worried the iPhone would crush their network they took off half the LTE team to work on their 3g network to make sure it could handle the iphone

*facepalm*

from his recent post it seems verizon already knows what he is doing. because he says "ill will let you know any news as soon as im allowed too" meaning verizon knows what hes doing and they dont want him saying anything to revealing.

edit:
Bennnnn

I just work there. There is just a specific piece of information which I was told to hold back on until further notice. Any other information I come across will definitely be posted here.

i mean why else would verizon tell a analyst to hold information if they didnt know what hes doing.

There are plenty of emails that go out to a department, or sometimes the full company, that have very clearly stated "do not share" type disclaimers on them. For really sensitive information many times there are reminders of NDA's that employees signed when they were hired.

If this launches 3g only, then that would be a deal breaker for me. 4g is the only reason I want it... if true, this is two high-profile launches VZW will have screwed the pooch on (first the xoom, now potentially this)... I remember the hype and buildup to the incredible. That was frustrating too, but at least it was positive and moving forward...

Wow I leave for a few hours and I'm a Verizon PR rep/troll now?

I assure you I am not.

1. Concerning the release date... You guys are getting worked up over nothing. As I told you earlier, please do not to worry about it. Your device will be out as soon as you expect. Nothing has changed FOR NOW, so please refer to my comment yesterday if you have questions.

2. I am not being hired by Verizon to post here. What's better than hanging out with you guys? Getting paid for it. I wish I could say that, but I merely work in the financial services industry. PR is not my job, nor is it to give out official announcements, which leads me to my next point.

3. I am choosing not to release a piece of information concerning Verizons 4G LTE network until it is all said and done, meaning, I will give you guys all the information when the decision is made its finalized and concrete. I don't want you guys going berserk over what I tell you and then find out later policies have changed.

Just like you all, I too am waiting anxiously for the release of this device. I am not magic. I cannot push the release date sooner or give you information which I do not know. I have given you all what I know as far as what I have been told, so please... don't bite the hand that feeds you.

I too, am waiting to see how this all plays out. Launching this device has become absolutely ridiculous and nightmare for my department and many others.

For now, count on the 17th. We have many many people working their ass off to make this happen.

its funny when Bennn was giving info everyone questioned how legit he was. Verizon has screwed htc, bestbuy, and proven every other source out there wrong when it comes to thunderbolt so Bennn is not alone.

I think i believe this guy, now he is trying to hold back info that he is not sure about and have been told to keep quite and people are calling him a troll. LOL. Thats why if I was a guy who worked for verizon and had inside info I would never release anything to public because if you are ever wrong you will be called a troll.

The guy does not want to lead people on, so he is not giving out a definite date. So far 17th is the go, and I think verizon is beefing up LTE network, that's what I got from him saying everyone is working their ass off to launch this device.

added: Ben5 may be legit (who knows otherwise?), but no way he is being blessed to post:

I am sure a few business lawyers lurk these threads every now and then :)

Most companies when you sign the employment contract, THAT basically calls out anything you do for the company fits this. NDA's like what you mention are usually attached to internal documents and are really CYA for the person that created the document ;)

Factor in SOX laws- NOBODY talks without a blessing- in writing (especially a publicly traded company).

If you work as an analyst, or anything product sensitive, EVERYTHING is NDA ;)
