[RELEASED] The 4.3 inch "Thunderbolt" aka "Mecha" aka "Incredible HD" from HTC...beyond coming soon!

Have you even seen the pics he released ? How about him stating it would not be 4g like EVERYWHERE else reported? The merge will be here before 2011 imo.

Seeing as how Bodyglove has already made a snap on case for the Merge (per Miami's pics he posted)...it's hard to disagree with you. I think the Merge will be announced any day now. I just hope it is followed by a HD release :D

I'm not discrediting Miami by any means...but he is not the one responsible for actually releasing the phone. Verizon is in the driver seat. I still look to Miami for info or preliminary timelines but I'm not hanging on every word he speaks. Like he said, the timeline for this phone has shifted several times already.

I'm just waiting for the big V to actually announce this phone.

I agree. his info is accurate when we get it. Now if vzw would make their minds up and finally release it lol. But I am by no means waiting around either. My dx should be here any time(just in case vz keeps procrastinating ). :)

So in your opinion guys, merge, or incredible HD?

Well, let me put it this way...

While we don't have "absolutely" clear specs for both...I think we have a good idea of what both will offer.

For the Merge: You are looking at a device very similar to the G2 but it will be running HTC sense (where the G2 is vanilla android). The Merge is NOT a "Droid" branded phone so it could very well come with Bing instead of Google search. This probably will not be a huge deal to most people...but it is annoying.

My wife has to have a virtual keyboard so I am getting her the Merge (most likely).

For the Incredible HD: We are thinking this will be a upgraded version of the EVO...much like the HTC Desire HD. It is most likely not going to be 4G if released this year but there has been a lot of conflicting info on this.

The 4.3" HD is the form factor I am looking for and I do not need a physical keyboard so if released in the next 2 weeks, I will most likely jump on it.

It all has to do with your preferences. I'm pretty sure both devices will be better than any current devices available for Verizon (with similar form factors, i.e. HTC Inc. HD > Moto DroidX or Samsung Fascinate / HTC Merge > Motorola Droid2 or Droid2 global)

EDIT: Just want to point out that by "better" I am factoring in personal preferences like android skin. I think Motoblur (full blown or scaled back) is pretty terrible. Ugly and sluggish is not a good combo...and that's what I think motoblow...err...motoblur offers :D

good dialogue going on in here

its crazy how things only seem to get more complex and stories get even more confusing right before a launch haha. hopefully they will both be out soon and the Incredible HD will live up to my hopes.

I met with a Verizon business development rep last week at a dinner. He told some info about the Incredible HD. He told me that he was also just holding it back at their office, so it's real.

First thing he said is that it will not be called the Incredible HD or Incredible 2. They have it down as the Droid Mecha, yes Droid, with all of the Google searches and apps preloaded...no Bing.

Second, he said it has a 1.3Ghz snapdragon processor, not a 1.2Ghz like previously thought. Its the 4.3 Screen size with a FFC.

He said it's LTE running Gingerbread. He has not heard or seen of a 3G only version. Then I asked about release. Definitely not December. Should be in January to be showcased at CES.

We're still emailing back and forth and he told me that as soon as hears anything new, he'll let me know.

So will it not be HD then (standard 800x480)? Ask him about all the specs if possible (hopefully better camcorder quality than EVO)..

Remind him that in January there will be dual core 1080p recording handsets stealing headlines so a 2010 holiday initial release may not be a bad idea.

How do you all like the geeky name: Mecha?

IMO, the EVO is the best handset in 2010 if this is not released & I'll try to hold off on pulling that trigger another week or two so the 30 day return would be an option. Let's hope there are some reviews asap, CES is not too far away..

Appreciate the sharing brown200:cool:

Interesting news. It only seems right that they release it as an LTE device- it would make no sense to release a 3G only device now, especially since all cellular providers are trying to upgrade technologies to 4G service.

Hopefully the Mecha is loaded up more than the Evo is, or it seems rather pointless to release it this late in the game.

Do you have any word on whether or not the 4G addition will cost more money? Or will they still have $14.99 150MB and $29.99 unlimited data?

Well I hope that this info is accurate because so far that all sounds really good. Did he say what kind of display the screen will be?

Thanks for dropping in good sir :)

I just got my Inc in late October (still have a NE2 in my back pocket :D) and I REALLY want this HD or Mecha, whatever it's called, ASAP! I'm still not 100% sold on the 4.3" screen but aparently it's the way all the phones are headed so I best jump on board.

Also, as I stated earlier in this thread, if VZW doesn't push this bad ass device out before Christmas they are out of their minds and losing a ton of money, IMO. Every Christmas (when I have extra money) I usually buy myself a small "to me from me" gift. This would be the PERFECT gift for myself, haha. A little pricey, but hey, I deserve it ;)

LOL such good rationalization hahahaha

i actually prefer the samsung 4in but that size will probably stay with their branded phones

so 4.3 is next best :)

They said dont expect any phones announced, probably just some USB devices for laptops and whatnot. Which i think has been the plan all along

Has this bad boy passed through FCC as far as anyone knows?
If not dreaming about a tomorrow release is just that. Dreaming.

Didn't hear back about the screen resolution yet, but did hear about the processor. It's actually suppose to be a Tegra 2 processor, not a Snapdragon.

Maybe they will allow you to pre-order the device before the Holidays are through. Verizon has been pushing out at least one Droid based phone per month, so what about December? The Mecha is the only other Droid device that is known.

Anyone here ever hear of HTC using a proc other than a Qualcomm?

And this guy has one in his office? Well...as they say..."Pics, or it didn't happen..."

tegra 2 eh....that seems a little different than anyone has ever reported. i think someone is getting their chain yanked
