Root Remove AmPm from clock?

Aight Bro Goodnight To

Just thought about this if you wanna mess with it. Seems like there is no guides anywhere that I found that instruct how to remove the am pm.

BUT if we could edit and xml to where we could slide the clock further to the right it might "push" the ampm off the screen. Just a thought.

I thought I found things that could be of help. But everything I've found was for froyo.

Me and a couple other of lets just say smarter people than I...lol (Ldrifta and superuser), tried working this out awhile back. Also we tried adding toggles. We all got as far as getting the toggles to work themselves but just couldnt get worked out how to make them actually turn on and off different parts of the clock. I was looking into porting the CM7 clock settings from another lg phone the p990 which has very close specs to ours (main diff it is dual core and thats about it). It was a no go as I just couldnt figure out what parts in the smali needed to be brought over. I would say if anything that would be the place to start. But if you do figure this out congrats because this seriously haunted my life for a few weeks and you will deserve a BIG pat on the back...lol. :o But the good news is that it should be included in cm7/9 whenever pg gets it finished!

Lol well fuzzy wants to push the pm/am Out If the Screen lol :D

Fuzzy am not sure if u Have seen this one but Here just wanted to let u kno [MOD][HOW TO] remove am/pm from statusbar clock by modding services.jar - xda-developers

If your going to try this please be aware that is for the samsung galaxy. I tried a similar guide and it didnt work out right. I think places where it says stuff like:

invoke-virtual {v3, v6}, Landroid/widget/TextView;->setVisibility(I)V

the v3, v6 need to be changed to whatever values our phone uses. But that is just a guess and that guide might work I dont know. I'm just adding my 2 cents from what I learned doing it hoping it helps! I wish someone would figure this out.:)

It's my #1 priority right now. I will get this working. There's a way to do it and I'll find it, dammit. Haha

I'm pretty sure it's in the services.jar file for those that wasn't to play along. :D

Fuzzy, check the settings i made for you. One of them, if not both, have the toggle, but like droidwhisperer said that was as far as we got lol. no matter what i did, i even tried under framekwork-res changing the string or something, nothing worked.

I, like you, cant read smalis for isht lol :D

So after contemplating suicide so I can just end it all, the only possible "good" info I've found is that edits will be made to clock.smali which is in systemUI and the "mod" will have to be added into the smali code. It's not going to be as simple as deleting or changing around some characters.

A whole new line of code will have to be written. So much for that cause I can't even read smali to begin with much less write the ish.

Who's up for it? That knows what the F that ish means?

I think Im gonna call it quits. The 24hour clock is working out pretty well for me as well.

Hopefully someone else can come through with this as Im sure there is a fair amount of people that would like it. Having the toggle would be even better but beggars can't be choosers. :D

Good luck to whoever tackles this.

hey fuzzy, you mentioned something about pushing the am/pm off the screen? I recall reading something over at XDA about spacing the icons on the status bar. I was going to try it out to make my icons closer like on ICS. I have it written down lol, all you really do is use GIMP to resize the canvas of the icons, make sure the images are converted to RGB under images/mode before you apply any changes. also click on the chain link so it doesn't change the canvas height. perhaps this can help with the am/pm issue, you know ? decrease the canvas for the clock icon til am/pm is removed. someone also stated that you could just download Photo Editor from the market and mod your icons on the go

Yeah that could work. I might look into it and see how it goes.

so I've looked everywhere and tried things here and there but no luck . to write a new smali code you'll have to use apktool to debug smali codes . I'm still doing research and will be attempting this tonight

Yeah from what I found through all the searching I did. I think a new script will have to been added to clock.smali. I wish it was as easy as just removing the ampm from the script.

Hopefully you can figure it out. ;)
