That would be in the boot.img.....it's pretty hard to fix that..try replacing it with the boot.img from backside, but it's better to not do this as most of the devs build each boot.img to work best with their rom, but it won't hurt you, you just might start getting errors. The boot.img is also the kernel. Only use gingerbread rom's boot.img to try to replace it, don't use froyo or ics ones.
Appreciate the response.
What are the differences between Backside and CyanogenMOD? Does backside not have the VirginMobile logos?
Will backside work with a US670 version of the Optimus?
BACKside is CyanogMod, just has extra features implemented into it...
BACKside does not have VirginM logos.
US670:
Everything except MMS would work.
You may get a status 7 error when flashing, I can help with that.
Oooo, bummer MMS doesn't work on Backside? That means no sending photos, right?
What is a 'Status 7' error?
Is there another CyanogenMOD ROM that doesn't have carrier logos?

I wouldn't imagine that most of them have carrier logos, unless the logo is just too cool to remove hehe.
MMS works on BACKside for OV, it wont work on the Optimus U only because of a different carrier and an APN settings mismatch.Oooo, bummer MMS doesn't work on Backside? That means no sending photos, right?

I checked over there, those forums are dead, the Optimus S forums here are also dead. Now androidcentral optimus S users all go to the V section......I wouldn't imagine that most of them have carrier logos, unless the logo is just too cool to remove hehe.
Edit: You might try the Optimus U All Things Root forums for roms for that phone.

No it's not a settings problem.....you may not even get the error....The 'Status 7' error you speak of - is that the MMS problem or is a 'Status 7' error something else?
Is there a known good work around on sending photos on a Optimus U?
I checked over there, those forums are dead, the Optimus S forums here are also dead. Now androidcentral optimus S users all go to the V section......
S/U/V are all the same except S has home and menu key switched and S is Sprint, V is VM, U is USCellular.......
Now I wonder if I can get a hold of US670 firmware somehow to use to make this unbrick method I was talking about before......
Have you ever used the Mobile Update tool from LG to update the phone? What do you need from me to have the Optimus U firmware?
I did make a nandroid backup (rooted) of the Optimus U I have, if that would help.
Have you ever used the Mobile Update tool from LG to update the phone?
And have you ever done OTA updates with it?
Not for the U nope, but you have to be on stock for update to work I think...on the V you must be on stock for the update tool to read the phone correctly...I have not performed any updates of any kind, other than the root. Not sure if this was done before I purchased the phone (off of eBay).
Do you know the baseband for any OTA updates, etc? I could confirm that the baseband doesn't fall into the OTA update category.

Guess I could go to US Cellular's site and find out. May take some digging.
So, a nandroid backup would not work for you with what you need?
You must go to LG's site to find out.
Install the Software Update and Drivers here:
LG US670 Support: Find Manuals & Warranty Info | LG USA
Run the program and install it after installing drivers and tell me if it says there is an update.
Again you must be on stock first.
Edit: MMS not that I would know of, others like Phatninja55 might.
Yes as long as it's stock or even just a regular froyo rom...Can it be rooted stock? That's the only thing I have. I do not currently have a US Cellular Update.zip.

I'll see what I can find out - as long as this effort of mine will be productive. If I do this, I do it for someone else as I really don't need a 'debrick' utility. If what I will be doing will get a good Optimus U custom ROM, that would be good.
Where is the link to the custom ROM it is currently using? I may be able to use that to fix MMS on BACKside for the U.
Also I need the firmware so I can get a good unbrick for V users...this has nothing to do with MMS lol.
