Replace HTC Lockscreen, an Incredible Find!

For those of you having issues with the trackpad waking the phone: I think the problem extends beyond the app...

I have my phone rooted and have pushed a custom keylayout that lets the Inc wake on power/lock press as well as optical trackpad press. I also use the default (swipe-down) lock screen. Sometimes it wakes instantly, other times I need to hold it for few seconds to get the phone to wake. I think this might have to do with how the phone conserves power when it idles...

But, yeah, I think this is an OS/HW issue, not an App one.

Just downloaded this app today, and its AMAZING. It solved my problems of having the standard android lock swipe, wanting a way to control my volume/music from the lockscreen using a custom music app (the stock music app allowed this, but i don't use sense) and quicker access to the basic functions of the phone. Will be recommending this to anyone that has android.

One feature I've noticed I'd like is to be able to set certain hard buttons to wake. I realize you are having trouble with the incredible track pad to begin with but, if it was possible to wake the phone with JUST the track pad that would be AWESOME. I plan on using my phone for music a lot more and being able to adjust the volume without turning the music on is essential. Waking it via the optical pad would be nice but not essential

I agree, like to control media volume with the screen off, so taking the volume icons out of the equation for waking the phone would be appreciated.

i spoke way too soon, sorry. last night, i swear it was working for me every time. this morning, not so much. not only does it take several seconds, like before, but sometimes it goes to my home screen rather than to my lockscreen. it's pretty wiggy. you don't have a wonky inc, i just had a fluke last night. oh, well. sorry to get hopes up.

I'll bet you had it plugged in when it worked perfect. I've found that whenever I'm plugged into the charger or usb, trackpad unlock works every time without exception. Could someone confirm? This info may help the dev.

I'm beginning to think the same thing. I think dinc has 2 levels of sleep... instant off, where screen blanks, and a deeper sleep where it stops monitoring some hardware.

For some reason I cannot find this app in the market... (saw it about an hour ago, but couldn’t find it again), I was searching on "widget lock" and also the name of the app with no success... did it get removed? :(

ETA -- I just found it on AppBrain... but still couldnt find it in the market

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. Staying awake (but with the screen off) would cause a lot of power drain, so it enters a sleep state from which it periodically wakes to do account sync, etc. This is reinforced by the fact that the trackpad works instantly when the phone has recently been locked. Maybe part of this energy conservation results in only one button being "listened" to.

A good test of this would be to have something running that prevents the phone from sleeping (e.g. Slacker/Pandora/Last.FM), letting the phone lock and, after 5 or so minutes, trying to wake it up with the trackpad. I have a hunch the phone would wake instantly.

If no one else does, I'll try it when I get off work.

Your hunch is correct. Last.fm running, screen timeout.. several minutes later, trackpad unlock immediately. Also unlocks every time if plugged into charger or usb.

when the phone is plugged in, it does, in fact, wake with trackpad instantly. however, mine goes directly to the home screen, just a flash of the lockscreen shows, but then to home screen. it's been doing this since yesterday. when i take it off the plug, it does the same thing, but with a delay of several seconds. i looked and couldn't find a setting that might be making it go direct to home screen from trackpad wake...don't think i'm missing anything. does anyone else have it doing this?

That sounds like you have "trackball unlock" option checked in the buttons and input section of the setup.

at first i thought, well, yes, of course i do. but then i unchecked it, and...of course it works now. i was confusing wake with unlock. because i'm bright that way. duh. so thanks! anyhow, still have the hit or miss delay, but at least now i have it set correctly so it goes to the lockscreen not the homescreen.

and now, i shall pull my pants back up. carry on.

To the poster above me that does not happen to me. This is the perfect lockscreen alternative I have found no bugs and it is one of the best things I have purchased from the market!

For those wanting htc widgets, its an htc issue, htc only lets other htc apps use the widgets, thats why launcher pro and all of the home screen replacements cant use them. Not an issue with this app. Its up to HTC to make them android widgets instead of htc widgets..

I'm the developer of WidgetLocker. Just popping in to say WidgetLocker is great :) And I'm happy to answer any questions. I've subscribed to this thread so feel free to post here. Or email me.

The back button being force enabled is only true for the No Slider layout. Also I think I have a clever fix that will make everyone happy, allowing the user to decide how long the back button must be held to unlock. The default is 0, so it unlocks as soon as you hit the back button like normal. But you can specify a few seconds or even 30 seconds. Incredibly unlikely to hit by mistake, but still gives me the peace of mind that I won't lock someone out of their phone.

That's weird, for me it's the home button that unlocks. My back button does nothing.

Other than that, it's a great app!

Also, with Handcent, when I get my pop up reply, as I hit the text box to reply the pop-up does not slide up and the keyboard hides the text box. Without widget locker this functions as it supposed to. Thx kevin for the work!

This isn't a full solution, but it's something for now.
In Handcent go to Settings > Notification Settings > Popup Settings
and enable "Auto-open on-screen keyboard"
I noticed that the keyboard doesn't popup on Sense home either. I couldn't reproduce this issue on Stock Froyo, only on Sense 2.1. I haven't tried stock 2.1.

Kevin..... Cheers to you bro!! Just purchased this app... on DINC... and I AM LOVING IT!!! SMOOTH AS HELL! and so far so good! I love having the option of changing my volume at the lock screen.. finally! and adding Widgets to it oh man.. you couldnt have done it any better! Keep it up!! Well WORTH 1.99!!

Right on I figured this out pretty quick as I use the pop up a lot. It works perfect and I'm fine with the keyboard popping up automatically...one less step right! thanks kevin :)

Can someone please tell me what the wallpaper size would be for this lockscreen?

For the home pages I use the 960x800 so that is what all of my wallpapers currently are. And none of them really look all that good without being that wider size. So since I want to create new wallpapers for just the lockscreen, I need to know what size to make them.
