Root Restoring stock firmware

I'm new to the site but have bee having similar issues as blind. My phone is newly rooted (mistake) and I was removing an app and there was an error with something closely titled "android.ui.com" and after a reboot I lost the notification bar and answering the phone now requires an extra 5 steps instead of a "swipe". So I started running through your steps and it went exactly as described except for two things: In device manager there wasn't a modem named LGE AndroidNet for USB Modem and the process didnt actually complete. I'm not allowed to post the results in my first post but I will shortly in the second.

This is the string of info and the errors. After this came up it said to Contact Online Support.

You need the .dll required for that program and that's the problem. Correct me if I'm wrong. I heard that the .cab doesn't have the 3rd file which is the .dll and that screws the whole process.

I might be able to add it if someone allowed me to team view them.

I apologize for bein a noob on forums but I'm not sure how to team view. I'd be willing though if it fixes the prob! Or if someone has this "missing" .dll that'd be nice. If it's just a matter of droppin in the .cab file, shouldn't be trouble. ANY HELP IS AWESOME!

On Saturday you can help me.

I'm not sure about the cab file format and the flashing program, but I know the phone and download mode allows you to write any arbitrary sector on the internal storage. When you flash the tot file, it contains the mbr, ebr, bootloaders, and pretty much every other partition. When really most people arent needing to flash every single one of them.

I wrote my own app that uses the download mode but lets you selectively flash partitions. You can individually write the boot, recovery, data, and system partitions right from download mode. It doesn't messing with any of the NV items, so you don't need your MSL to flash. Its also a lot faster if you only want to write 8MiB to fix your boot or recovery and you dont lose all your settings and apps.

Do you know if the cab/tot flashing will allow you to remove the partitions that you dont want to flash. It wouldn't be a bad thing to have a couple cabs here that contain different things so people can be a bit more selective with them.

Um where is all this info from? The cab flashes all the partitions as needed. I have never been able to access anything from my old Optimus M from emergency mode....

Greatpune likes making his own programs to do stuff others don't. Looks like he has something that could selectivley write only certain partitions thru download mode.

I think he's asking if a cab file is setup in a way that his program could pick out individual parts of it, lets say just the boot.img and only flash it instead of the whole cab file

So if a user screws up the boot partition they could use his program with the cab file to restore the boot image without affecting any other partitions

The LG program ran a little farther this time. It said starting upgrade but once started an error box popped up and said "failed to decode file you specify". I changed the name of the file to match the instructions at the top of this thread. Is that the problem? Or does it matter that the .cab file you made has a .dll file that is LS696 and the .wdb is VM696?

Do NOT change the name. Change the OP instructions to match the name of the cab.

Got it. I ran it through one more time with the original name. Does it matter what I punch in for the SW version? Either way I try it I get a different error. With the original name "SAM" version there's an error after 4% upgrade.
I copied that last part of the dialog below:

09:12:16 : ********* 3GQCT Model.dll input Parameter End *********
09:12:16 : wParam : 20, lParam = 570
09:12:16 : MODEL DLL Event : (20, 570)
09:12:23 : wParam : 100, lParam = 51
09:12:23 : MODEL DLL Event : (100, 51)
09:12:23 : _DetachDLL Call
09:12:23 : _DetachDLL Call End
09:12:23 : TYPE_WPARAM_UPGRADE_ERROR Error Code = 51
09:12:23 : Page_Error

The name of the software version is the full name of the cab I put up but without ".cab"
You may also have to disconnect phone, pull battery and put phone back into emergency mode again.

Got the file names down. Is emergency mode the same as download mode? I've been searching my settings and can't find where to switch CDMA and 3GQCT.

Read my post again, i forgot that's only a setting in another program. Yes emergency mode is download mode.
