Return 2.1 Eris to Verizon

You should probably read all of w4lly's post before you go labeling someone stupid and jealous. He has never been a complainer, and his problems with 2.1 (the facebook sync bug) are legitimate. He has every right to go to verizon and ask them to replace his phone. I had my 2.1 phone replaced to the the audio bug that plagues so many on here. Went back to stock 1.5 and now I'm rooted and I don't have a problem. Thats the way the system is supposed to work.

I was referring to how he said that the phone was unusable before 2.1. I just think its really cheesy to whine about a phone after you install a leaked version of an OS on it. Then because of the decision you made by installing a leaked OS you feel that it is your right that you should be able to return the phone, so that way you can go back to its original OS, only to hack the phone again.

It's like "Hey I hacked my phone with something that I didn't like, so let me return it, so I can start over again and hack it with something better".

My husband and I got Eris' less than two months ago. We both upgraded to Leak 2.1 V2. He decided that even with 2.1 he really needed a keyboard on his phone. I returned the phone to the store. The lady who waited on me only turned it on on accident while trying to remove my case. She never looked at it, never asked about it. Once my exchange was done, as I was leaving the store, she removed the battery and the sd card.

I guess it all depends on where you go. If they refurb them and you actually have a technical person helping you, then you're probably in trouble. Is it right or wrong to return it for another phone? His Eris functioned perfectly fine on 2.1. Personally I'm glad I got to return it and he's happy with his new phone.

Returning your phone for a totally different phone because you need a hardware keyboard isn't wrong. I just think its wrong when you buy a phone, hack it, unable to roll back the hack you did, and you return the phone as defective to get the same model of phone in its original state.

The reason most of us went through the trouble of reseting our phones and loading the leaked 2.1 on it anyways was due to the problems we were experiencing with 1.5. None of the issues people are complaining about have been fixed in 1.5. Supposedly, 2.1 was going to cure those problems but it didn't. We are finding that rooted versions do fix some known issues. I have the 2.1v1 leak and do not really want to go to the v2 leak just because it doesn't fix what I want fixed.
I am just accepting the phone with its limitations and getting the Incredible. My daughter will happily take the Eris since she just wants nav and web browsing. She doesn't even use more than 30 minutes of talk time so she doesn't care about the call end lag. She does use about 8K-10K texts a month and knows she will have to clean out the inbox/sent box often.
