Return the Hero?

Evenin all,

just would like to listen to your thoughts....

I recently got the htc hero on orange uk, but with the google phone/nexus one what ever people wana call it just around the corner..... i think im guna regret not waitin, should i just bite the bullet and stick with the hero, or should i return it and wait till jan and get the google phone????

in 2 minds as to what to do for the best
 
You can always have this argument with technology - there's always something better coming out around the corner, that's why they call it progress.

It boils down to two questions you need to ask yourself, really:

1) Does the Hero do everything you need it for. If yes, keep it. If no - why did you get it in the first place?

2) If you did decide to get rid of your Hero, could you now stand to go back to a 'lesser' phone for the x months/years it takes for the Nexus to come out?
 
Well, what do you know really know about the Nexus One???

Will you be able to buy and run it on your carrier?
Will it be THAT awesome? (like the G1 was suppose to be)
How does it really work (calling/data wise)? Might not be for everyone.

If you said you're holding off for the Milestone or Xperia X10, then yea... maybe... but there are too many unknowns with the Nexus.

Then again it doesn't hurt to wait and see :p
 
Got the hero on a friends recommendation. I like it, just wish it had a flash, and was a little bigger. Never really looked at Android b4 but on likin where its :confused:heading.
 
Depends if you want to wait until early jan, thats when the rumours say it will beout. Depending on quite a lot of things actually, I may buy the nexus for myself and give my hero to the gf.
 
Is that a confirmed worldwide release date, or just the US release date?

Anyway, my point stands. Do you want it because it honestly does something you need that the Hero's not capable of, or is it just 'ooh shiny'?

Not that there's anything wrong with 'ooh shiny', but if you get the Nexus, in a month or so there'll be another phone announced with even more 'ooh shiny' and we'll be having the same posts again. Personally I like having the same phone for an extended period of time, means I can get used to all its little quirks and features, and also means when I get a new phone there's more of a wow factor and less of an incremental update.
 
Ive slightly fat thumbs so a bigger screen makes for easier typin for me, and the camera with flash is a defo plus point, other than that the hero is fine and dandy... apart from the poor battery life,

SHINY!!!!!

Basic reason. I LOVE my Hero, but I'm caught up in all the hype of being able to own the first google phone.
 
From the little I've read, you won't be able to purchase it other than off-contract, as Google plan to sell the thing direct and the user will have to sort out their own airtime plan. Other than that, I'll reserve judgement until there's actual hardware available on which to base a decision.

Slug yeh ive seen this, the reason it looks like its guna be sold direct is because of google voice id imagine, carriers wont like it that people will txt and call via wifi/data, if that IS the case then yes id keep my hero and purchase the N1 later, then at least ive got my contract(staff deal, 1200 mins, 500txt, unlimted landlines, 500mb net for
