LOL. I think sprint will easily say "Guess what, want truly unlimited data at about 75% the cost of the others? Come get your iphone at sprint." Done deal. If this happens, I really really hope sprint's datanetwork doesn't destroy itself. This could really occur imho.

To address the cds on this issue: I rarely use sprint's data network period. I live in a very high tech city where there is wifi nearly everywhere. That said, if im in traffic and want to listen to pandora over 4g my phone uses half its battery by the time I got home. And 3g is useless during rushhour. I get about .15 mbit up and down at 5:30pm. Either way, the 4g will be better on the phone if anything just because the battery is better. I'm very curious about whether the nexus prime will have some sort of nextgen 4g solution to the massive battery drain.

I can imagine battery life does suck with 4G. Hopefully as things progress they'll have a solution for that.

Wow, it's been more than a year since 4G came out, and still none here in San Diego, which I consider a pretty damn big city, considering AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon all have extremely good 4G reception at my house, and I live far out in the suburbs at the edge of SD county.

Just roll it out already Sprint, jesus...

...

Sprint has alternatives, and hopefully this will be addressed at the October 4G/ iPhone summit. The fact remains that once the initial build-out occurred, there has been no improvement, and Sprint has been left in the dust by the other carriers as far as 4G coverage is concerned.

For now sprints 4g is stalled, we'll see how that changes, but if you are not in their 4g area right now and you are after a 4g phone where you can actually use the 4g, then that is a great reason to go verizon. They have the luxury of pushing people over a barrel in terms of cost and plan value because often there is no alternative for people in terms of coverage.

I hope the news from sprints future 4g roadmap announcement is positive, or alot of people are going to be stuck with horrible value in their plans, and rewarding carriers whos business model is to provide less service for more cost.

Another review. I think he would get used to the feel. Also, I wonder why he doesn't say anything about the HDMI being in the box???

Initial Impressions And Hands-On With The Samsung Epic 4G Touch For Sprint

I like how in the written review he said the Sprint apps can be removed.

Also said in the Part 2 of MobileBurn review. It seemed short to me. I'm assuming because they already did a review on the UK version which was really indepth. I actually wanted to see him going into the apps and walking through as if it was all brand new

Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch (Sprint) video tour - part 2 of 2 - YouTube

Since this is your review; can you comment specifically on reception and voice quality (phone calls) when the signal is weak ?

the epic touch is known to have a fast cpu and a nice screen; but what about other less obvious features (reception, phone call clarity, gps, ...) ?

video review coming soon.

I just want to weigh in here..

Sprint has utterly failed at marketing this phone

This may not be all sprint's fault, due to the speculation here and elsewhere about samsung's delay in releasing it due to production or apple litigation, etc. My point is, when the evo4g came out the first reviews had 100,000 views per day on youtube. Wirefly was at only 15,000 views of that video after 5 days.

I think the point here is this is probably the greatest phone ever released and no one knows about it. Maybe its because iPhone 5 comes out in a month or 2, and sprint is planning to blow their marketing load on marketing that. Who knows. But this might explain why sprint store employees dont have a clue, why radioshack guys are on the phone with me going "dude, this makes no sense to me either, call back tomorrow, I dont even know if we're getting this phone officially yet." (actual words from radio shack on sunday, 9/11).

If I get mine at the sprint store I will not be surprised if I get there at 9am there wont be anyone else there with me, or maybe a couple. Its crazy.

the evo was pretty much a game changer phone, even though the epic 4g touch is in every way better, i dont think it is a game changer like the evo was and still is.

Same problem for me; it seemed he linked them to a site not publically available. For a while I thought perhaps his friend was a sprint employee given the photo links.

Thanks for your post. Is anyone else having trouble viewing the photos on your blog? My browser is Chrome, so it doesn't usually have issues.

It boggles me that all these reviews don't even mention the PHONE part of this phone!

How about the earpiece sound, call clarity, etc?

Most likely because phone tech was perfected years ago. Unless you're an apple user, and have to learn how to hold your device, lol

i d really like to know how the radio or the data connection is...i often find my phone going on and off with 4g, i could be in my apartment it could work great for 5 minutes and then it goes off (same spot not moving) for 2 minutes and come back again....just annoying...same with 3g sometimes..i just hope it works fine...i am saying that becoz my roomate has the htc evo and her connection seems faster than mine but mostly she doesnt have that on and off thing i am dealing with

At least the iPhone wasn't as bad as the Samsung Nexus S 4g. Guess nobody told Samsung that phone tech was perfected years ago.

I have had my Nexus S 4G since May and haven't had any reception issues, whether I am holding it or not....

Consider yourself lucky then. You must live in a strong signal area. It doesn't excuse the fact that it took them a few months to release an update to solve the problem. The point was don't make fun of Apple when Samsung was worst.

I don't think Samsung and phone tech go together. You have an Evo, so you may not think that bad phone tech is still around. I don't think there have been a single Samsung phone for Sprint (or any CDMA provider) in the last 2 years that had good call quality and connections. When my Epic 4G with merely average call quality is considered the best that Samsung can do, it's not good. Put it this way. Even the iPhone 4 with death grip is better than Samsung phone quality. Let's just hope this is reversed with the SGS2ET4G. The GSM versions were good...but of course the GSM versions of the SGS1 phones were good too.
