Consider yourself lucky then. You must live in a strong signal area. It doesn't excuse the fact that it took them a few months to release an update to solve the problem. The point was don't make fun of Apple when Samsung was worst.

The initial signal issue was with 4G speeds, not normal calling and 3G, if I remember correctly. I wasn't making fun :/

Funny thing about that is that if he would have actually done research he would have found out that the Infuse is actually the larger of the two. Infuse = (132 x 71 x 9 mm) Epic Touch = (130 x 69 x 9.59 mm)

Exactly! That's my point. He's got an iphone in his skirt pocket.

I wasn't referring to you specifically (my bad) about making fun of Apple as I was responding to an earlier post. Also the signal issues affected wifi, 4g, 3g, and cell reception. It's been documented on Engadget and other sites. The signal would fluctuate between 3g and 1x. Mine can't make a call from my room until they release the recent updates. Before someone ask, the Nexus was a gift from a friend while I still had my Evo 4g.

That said I am way off topic on this thread so I'll just leave it at that.

maaaaan. This phone looks so great but 800x480 really makes me hesitate. WTF samsung, even apple got a higher resolution screen into 3.5" 15 months ago and this phone still has 4g power issues. SIGH. It is however, 4x faster in smartbench prod & game and 4x faster in quadrant than my evo 4g with snapdragon 8650 and has a much better display

Still really tough to decide to blow my upgrade on this or wait for nexus prime.. decisions decisions

For those who do not have a large monitor, a fast internet connection and a pause button, the following is what is in the box, according to the Phonedog still of the bottom of the package:

SGS2E4GT

This Box Includes:

Samsung Epic 4G Touch
Standard Lithium Ion (Li-ion) Battery
AC Phone Charger
USB Cable
Get Started Guide – English
Get Started Guide – Spanish
Important Information Booklet
(including Terms & Conditions of Services
Wireless Recycling Envelope

I reread the box several times and I cannot find any mention of the HDMI adapter.

Update: And not to rag on Samsung, but gee, you guys left out a micro-SD card, and you still didn't give us a bone? (I suppose the 16GB card that Moto has brings their phone price up $100 though.) Still, no headphones like HTC, and no lanyard. I remember the days when I got a flip-top case with my Touch Diamond.

The one big difference between the Retina display and qHD is that everything on the Retina display (text, icons, etc) looks the same is the older screen, just higher resolution. Since qHD isn't a 2X scale of 800 X 480, everything looks smaller since the pixels are smaller. The reported 1280 X 720 on the Nexus Prime will make text, icons and etc look even smaller unless ICS has some sort of scaling feature that can display a qHD resolution into the 1280 X 720 screen.

The only way to have a Retina display-like jump is to go to 1600 X 960.

I believe some time ago you made a very cogent argument that the Vapor Prime might be available, at best, sometime around January.

We have so little in the way of rumors about it, it's hard to wait for such an unknown. I think it will have a higher resolution display, but as one of the reviewers said about the SGS2E4GT, "You can see pixels if you hold the phone about one inch from your face. Although I don't know how often people will do that."

And do you remember the old point about flat screen TV's? The smaller the screen, the more important it was to have higher resolution. Why? Because you sat closer to the screen.

My point is that it's important if you have a 3 1/2 inch display to have "retinal" display. The thing is so damn small, you have to hold it close to see it. If you have a 4 1/2 inch display, you can hold it further away and you don't see the pixels anyway.

This is no time for cold feet!

Just wanted to quote this because you summarized an important point some people who only look at spec numbers don't understand

See its not really about whether I can see pixels or not, its about displaying more on the screen. I believe I made my arguments about the rumormill nexus prime prior to having seen the videos of the Samsung Note @ 5.3" / 1280x720. The samsung note looks just plain awesome, albeit a bit ridiculous holding it to one's ear. So, will 720p (assuming rumors are true) be ridiculous on a 4.65" screen? And by ridiculous I mean unreadable text, etc. Maybe, but watching video on there or viewing webpages will be incredible. Plus the 4g battery drain issue MAY be at least addressed by then.

I suppose this is a case of I dont want to feel buyer's remorse. Upgrades only come once a year.

You have a point. I just don't consider it because of my need for large type as my eyes have aged to the point where large type is actually a good thing.

But I do understand that if you have the eyesight, more things on the display could be a plus.

You have the luxury of getting an upgrade each year. The gamble is whether the Prime will come out soon. If not and you put it off four months, that just sets you back another four on the next upgrade chance. Oh well, you have a nice dilemma. I have to wait two years now that my $220 a month family plan doesn't qualify for Gold status.

If someone sees a review that focus on reception/call quality please highlight it. I think there was a fellow in new york who used to review sprint phones that focus on this area; but i can't remember which site. The wirefly review (above) is very detail but doesnt' address call quality at all.

Everyone is reviewing it now. They all keep saying how fast it is. I'm sure the Exynos processor has a lot to do with it but, but the new TouchWiz is very polished. Polished operating systems alone pack speed and a pleasant experience.
