Root [ROM 2.1] Bugless Beast v0.8 (ESE53 Base)

Has anybody else noticed that on the 2.1 roms the picture frame widget has a habit of losing resolution on the picture you select? I've only seen this on the ERE25 and ESE53 roms. All the 2.0.1 roms seemed to do it correctly. It just seems like maybe it uses some crappy downsampling without anti-aliasing it.

So are others getting the 3D launcher? After applying this ROM with Nandroid, I do have smooth home page transitions, a more responsive and faster interface, animated wallpaper, the new gallery and music apps, but I don't have the 3D app launcher - just the same old drawer.

Have I done something wrong?

No you havent. The 3d launch is still buggy. You can download it off alldroid though

I would still stay away from the 3d launch. The defalt has 5 screens, interactive live wallpaper, and more than gets the job done.

I consider the 5 screens essential (now I don't have to use Home++) and the live wallpaper superfluous. The drawer launch just looks/feels like an archaic holdover on something so sleek. I was hoping to just get that added.

Alrighty, I just jumped from Pete's BB 0.7.6 (2.0.1) to his newest BB 0.7 and I guess I'm liking it so far. I'm also running Chevy's 1.1 GHz kernel because my Droid doesn't like to go past 1.1 GHz (random restarts) and Pete's smoked glass theme he has linked in his BB 0.7 thread.

It seems pretty stable minus the Live wallpapers for me. I like the Neural Network so I've been using that for the past few hours and my phone has restarted one me twice because of it. It actually says "Live wallpaper stopped responding" or something to that effect when the phone comes back up. Also, the phone seems to run a bit slower (skipping) when going though the app drawer and notification menu. Has anyone else experienced any of this?

Also, why does everyone at the beginning of the thread say there's still only 3 home screens? I've got 5 on mine and the Live wallpapers are actually reactive to touch too (I saw someone say that isn't possible right now or something). Is that because of my Smoked Glass theme?

Thanks for anyone who has some insight for this :).

People are talking about only 3 home screens in the beginning of the thread because the OP has changed with each update. there was a point in this ROM that it only had 3 screens until pete added the 5 screen launcher a couple updates ago. So everything in the beginning of the thread until the day he added the 5 screens would be people using a ROM with only 3.

HELP!
Okay, I extracted the contents from the zip folder with WinRAR of the Nandroid Backup for BB V0.7 to a folder within the "nandroid" folder on my sd card. I then launched SPRecovery, chose "Advanced Nandroid Restore", chose my BB V0.7 file, clicked "Preform Restore". Then, I get:
ERROR: Nandroid exited with status 21
I am coming from rooted 2.01 and have preformed the "wipe data/ factory reset" and "wipe cache partition" each twice.
What am I doing wrong?

[EDIT] Issue resolved. Renamed file and restored the rom perfectly.

What is a good Kernel to use for WIFI tethering?
I'm looking a Chevy's 10 slot 1.2 Ghz Kernel + WIFI Module (125/250/400/550/700/800/900/1000/1100/1200)...
Any suggestions?

wow... Jit just boot looped my phone like crazy.... restored to without and pushed back on Adamz ese53 LV/1.2 and she's happy again.

I think im in the same boat as Fab..... love it when it's working.... hate it when it's not... ;)

I have heard AdamZ 5 step low voltage kernels are nice.. that is my plan

I just want to know why he started releasing 5-step kernels. What's the point in that? I mean theoretically I could use 5-step 1200MHz because it has all the frequencies I need (125 for min; 600 for max below 40% battery and above 50C; 800 for max normally; 1200 for max when I feel like running at higher speeds).

Why bother though? Does 10 steps do something bad?

Here's yet ANOTHER n00b question.

I am running Bugless Beast 1.1 (2.0.1 build) and want to go to the new BB0.7 based on 2.1 but I have a concern: I've never had to load a ROM via nandroid restore. He says to do a wipe and factory reset (twice). What will all this wiping and clearing actually wipe and clear? Will I lose all my data, my music, my messages? Or will that somehow all be retained?

As much as I love the idea of 2.1 and interactive LWP on my Droid, I don't think it would be worth losing all my data in a wipe.

Thanks for the responses, good and bad :D

Get titanium backup.. use that to save your apps and data, then restore it after the data wipe

keep in mind the sdcard does NOT get wiped

Came from droidmod 1.0 rom and now running bugless beast ese53 v.6 with Chevy's 1ghz 10 slot kernel. I really liked the wifi tether that came with droidmod's rom, is there a way to get that for my current set up?

I've had this problem when updating via nandroid for this 2.1 update and another time. What seems to fix it is re-downloading the .rar again and extracting it to the nandroid folder. I guess it just boils down to a corrupt file transfer or extraction.

I'm guessing you've figured this out though by now..?

Edit: Opps, somehow I missed your edit, hah. So I was right, cool. Glad your figured it out.

Guys i got a few questions. So if im running BB 1.1 (2.0.1 build) i have to do a nandroid back up to get BB v0.7 (2.1 build) on my phone correct? Also, is it worth to change to the ESE53 base rom? It seems like it is, i just wanted some feedback on it.
