Root [Rom][5-26-12]Broken Out Spectrum 3.0 w/ Blitzkrieg Kernel

With this update/fix coming around next week, what all do I need to do so I can have everything the way it is on my phone now after I update. Do I just need to backup each individual app and my settings with titanium?

Once on Broken Out you will not have to wipe data every time. I will tell when it is recommended to wipe in the change log. So, in other words you shouldn't have to do anything!!!

I was wondering if in the next update you could put the clock back to the far right or maybe release 2 updates. one with the clock normal, and one with the clock in the middle. It really bothers me having the clock in the middle. Also the 100 in the battery doesn't fit correctly in the circle. Sorry is this seems petty, just giving my feedback. Its a great rom and I'm really enjoying it. Thanks so much michael for making this rom.

PS. On the battery number not fitting. I would suggest maybe just having 2 zeros instead of having the one as well. just a thought.

One kinda like a bug I noticed is when you download apps the icons in the status bar overlap the clock. Should have it so one icon is shown and then has a number for how many you've downloaded. Of course you just need to clear the notification window and they are gone but I thought i would throw that out there.

I'm having an odd problem. I noticed it happened on the stock ROM as well. Occasionally, when I'm texting, it gets bogged down. The car dock icon will pop up and everything shuts off. Goes straight to the home screen. Whatever I was working on text or mail, will not be saved to drafts.
Anyone got any ideas?

I noticed another issue after receiving a phone call the accelerometer no longer functions. Im not sure wether it was because the accelerometer was being used when the phone call was received or not but after the call it no longer functioned.

I did it, no problems so far. Made a new nandroid and the phone is so much better now. Thanks to all the replys to this thread as I read it all before doing this and all the replys helped a lot. A special thanks to all the people that spend there time working on this for us. I will be making a donation.

Ditto on the speaker phone, what voicemail button? I'll have to look for that one, personally think the LG phone app is pretty crummy, but I don't care enough to do anything about it :-) too busy enjoying my "no Verizon crap" ROM!

I had the accelerometer issue prior to using this ROM as well as with this ROM. Just pull down the notification bar (while orienting the phone whatever way it is stuck), turn off the autorotate, then turn it back on after 2-3 seconds. works 9 out of 10 times for me. Closing the notification bar in between works every time.

The dragon go add on for Swype worked the first time I flashed, but now force closes when I try to use it... Will try removing and re-adding it and see if that helps.

Dragon is built in to the Swype beta that is installed with Broken Out. You shouldn't have to download anything for it.

Nice one. I'm gonna flash it tomorrow. Do you have a good device repo, then? We should talk more about getting together to get cm7 working.

I'm also having the speaker phone issue. Its super quiet.

Also having trouble with go locker sticking after a reboot, always goes back to default.

Also pico nor ivona will read my texts. Just gives me an error each time. But they work everywhere else so far. I use ivona in moon reader pro a lot and that works perfect.

there were other things I've noticed but can't recall them right now. I'll try to start writing this stuff down. I'm very happy with your work michael, just trying to give you feedback. Thanks for your efforts man.

Go is a little faster and less of a visible ram component, but adw is more stable and updated less. I also don't like how go handles the app drawer, but that's usually the case... The differences are usually personal preference. I use the paid version of adw with the gingerbread blue icon pack.

Got rooted got rom and all was fine for a few days, battery was at 40 percent last I noticed then the next time I pulled phone it was off. tried to power up with no luck, I pulled battery and tried again and nothing. A few minutes later I noticed boot animation and thought oh cool it's going to power on but no luck. I'm recharging battery to full power before I try again to power on again. If this doesn't work should I try the button combo then the cwm fix?

I never used ADW much though I did buy it last summer. But I dont know why you would say ADW is more stable than GO. That is to imply that GO crashes and has stability problems and I"ve never experience one single force close on GO in my 9 months of using it (that I recall, it's definitely never been an issue). They constantly improve it and it has many more options and abilities, and is much more powerful than ADW...or any other launcher app for that matter. I even paid 15 dollars for SPB launcher and GO owns it all day long when it comes to options and configuration. I'd GO with go!

I don't know much about LG's yet but I have a decent amount of experience with rooting and roming samsungs and I would say you need to get back into CWM by using the button combo, if you have no other options, and then from there restore your backup. If that doesnt fix it then just reflash the rom as you did the first time. Shouldn't be a problem getting back into the device.

But you may not even want to do that yet but maybe try and restore your phone back to stock using the guides online for how to do so. Plus it's good practice to learn how to return to stock because you may need to soon to get the ICS update!

But again I'm a root noob when it comes to LG and samsungs are much different, but if you are can get into CWM you should be fine. Even if you can't get into CWM and you can still go into download mode you are fine..or should be i would think. Don't panic and someone will guide you through this.

How to recover from bricking your phone - The Easy Way - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com

@IMUcarmen

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried the recovering from a bricked phone method but it informed me my phone was up to date or it had a communication problem and asked me to remove battery and cable then power on phone and restart process. This would put the phone into bootloop of course and the updater would tell me that my phone wasn't supported. I've rooted original droid and DX and sbf'd to stock a few times. This is strange how I got into bootloop accidentally somehow. Everything was great until an unexplained reboot with 40 percent battery.

This button combo vol down +power, pause then power power? I don't know how long to hold and time these presses, either nothing happens or I hold too long and I get back into bootloop. Are there some more precise directions? Do I hold until the phone vibrates? Also do I release the vol down before pressing power power after the pause?

Thanks for the input.

I'm assuming you've seen this thread CWM Touch Recovery - Ported from Koush's Offical Nitro Recovery - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com and you downloaded the bootloop fix file....Like I said in my first post to you I have limited experience with this phone and have only owned it for 3 days. I rooted and put the rom on it the first night I had it and havent had an issue yet, so I'm unfamiliar with using this button combo to get into recovery.

I would try different ways of doing the button combo because it isnt explained well. also neph says to get in touch with him if you are having trouble. I assume you can still get into download mode since you said the update process just tells you your phone is update to date? if thats the case then I'm sure there is a fix.

Hopefully someone here with the know how will try and help you out more than I can. I will be gone all day as i have a job to do in another town but will be back on tonight. You got me thinking i need to experiment with this stuff in case I get into your situation.

wish I could help you more.

This really isn't the forum for this kind of discussion, but GO products are team-based dev products, so there are changes and revisions almost daily. Regardless of what the peanut gallery in the Play Store think, that's NOT a good thing... ADW releases new versions when there are new features, not the equivalent of CM nightlies with daily changes. You want to have an app that is stable without loads of changes and when the dev comes up with new features, they're all released as ONE update; it's one of the beefs I have with using Go SMS... it's updated several times a week and most updates serve no purpose.

But your other statements are like what I said: subjective, personal differences, NOT fundamental performance-based ones. Go or ADW will suit most people just fine (hence why they're the most downloaded alt homes), but the features and operation is what drives people from one to another. However, in my use of the Spectrum since I got it a month ago, ADW has worked *FOR ME* on a more consistent basis than Go. IMO, the LG-skinned version of GB is conflicting with TONS of apps... I have quite a few apps that don't work nearly as well on this phone, as they did on my D1 and D2. The OS randomly reboots too, which is why I'm going to flash this rom today.

The easy recovery method is not working as it should be for people. I do believe I am going to have to close the thread until I work out a better sollution. Until then, if you really desperately need to get back to stock, you this method.

Installed rom yesterday everything went fine. Istalled a total of 9 apps from titanium backup to phone. Froze talk, setup wizard, email and swype.
Installed perfect keyboard from market. played with phone all day, added a few bookmarks to browser.Everthing was working fine. Late last night I decided to freeze the music app, witch I have had trouble with before, but thought with the new rom it would be ok. Used the phone the rest of the night and before bedput it the charger.
woke up this morning and had a low storeage icon in the notifacation bar.
Thought a reboot would help and rebooted it went into bootloop. I had to do the vol down & power buttons to get to cwm and did a recovery.
Rebooted and went into botloop to cwm, had to use the bootloop zip to get the phone to work. Just a little advice please download the bootloop zip to sd card, you don't know when you may need it.
The phone is back up working fine now I don,t know if i can safely freeze the music lilac file. This is the third time I have had problems freezing this app.
I also am having trouble with the low volume on speaker phone as it seems to be a common issue.
Thanks agian for all the hard work .

Isn't speakerphone volume tied to system volume? The spectrum volumes seem to be more difficult to control than other phones.
