Root [Rom][5-26-12]Broken Out Spectrum 3.0 w/ Blitzkrieg Kernel

Do a back up in cwm before you flash anything.

Yes, what he said, gosh, it's been so long since I rooted mine.

And I also do a nandroid backup in cwm before each wipe and flash.

And depending on where you get the ROM, the instructions usually advise you to:

Backup,

Wipe data (factory reset) when changing base builds and usually just cache and dalvik when just upgrading build versions.

Example: Starting from stock you will want to run the All in One to gain root and install cwm.
Now you can perform a nandroid backup of your original OS.
The only trick here is in order to access the recovery mode, you will need either ROM toolbox or Titanium Backup to navigate to the option for reeboot into recovery.

Any how, I'm sure you have come across the wealth of posts here and elsewhere regarding the rooting and flashing of this fine device.

Have fun, and Flash Responsibly. Your relationship may depend on it..

Is it worth the $5 to buy the pro version of rom toolbox? Mainly wondering if using profiles would make a difference in performance and/or battery life.

Yes. Worth every penny. It's done me well on all my other droids with no issue like I've had with the spectrum.

I don't use the profiles, but I like how it auto saves apps and can change sd card speed, cpu speed, icons and so much more.

I'd recommend setCPU, had trouble with profiles switching w/Toolbox. I own toolbox pro too, totally worth it for other features like the root browser, killing auto start apps, and more.

Strange part is it only happens on these ROMs. I have never had it happen on a stock ROM.

I was monkeying around again last night, and noticed that it only happens if I put it in the cradle when the screen is off. If i turn the phone on and unlock, then put on dock, it will load the dock program fine and function normal. I almost wonder if this is due to the underclocking when in sleep.

Can we tweak the voltages on 3.0?

I've noticed issues with ROM toolbox Pro profiles, sometimes it is getting root access every 2 or 3 minutes, other times I can go two days and never see it granted root access. Also every time I go into the CPU control it is showing the ROM default CPU speeds, even if a rule should have it set to something else. I have verified with another app that can read the current CPU speed and it verifies what I see in ROM toolbox, not my profiles.

I know it works, as when I get a random reboot while the screen is off it takes almost 5 minutes to boot back up and the boot animation is running in super slow down mode. But if I restart the phone while charging out a full battery (manual or random) it boots in turbo mode with the boot animation going bonkers!

The app backup is nice, as it catches the app during installation, so it bypasses the protection method used in some apps that prevent being then up as .apks (did I mention it gives you .apk files that can be used during a ROM flash to install the app)

I don't use most of the other features, except the terminal.

So I bought setcpu based on your recommendations and I just set up a few profiles. Is there a way to tell if the profile has been working that I set for when the screen is off?

EXCEPT... RTB will overwrite any settings in SetCPU, so it's redundant to have SetCPU running. I used to use it, but RTB kept overwriting my clocking/governor changes, even though I didn't set anything in RTB. I haven't found that to be the case with the CPU app in BO3, though... it seems to keep settings, most likely because it runs on reboot before RTB can.

Hmm I guess the only reason I still have rom toolbox installed is for the sd boost feature. Is there another app that does the same thing but doesn't interfere with setcpu?

yes.

I think i'ts called sd boost.
lol. RTB, as I understand it, was designed to take all the best tweak apps on the market and put them in one place.

What sucks is our phone can't take advantage of the icon/boot image changes possible with RTB... thats a huge piece of what makes it a wicked app.

icons dont work but the boot animations do.

because it depends on your sd card, and what class it is.

I had a class 3 which got the best scores with the cache set at 128k. If I set it at 4096k it would be very slow. Even lower at 1028 or 2056 it was slower than 128k.

But now I have a class 10 and it does well at 4096. I havent tried all the settings though to see what is fastest.

So I been on 2.0 the past few weeks, not going to 3.0 with a mixture of issues i seen in this topic.. will wait for next update i guess..
anyway, at first i wasn't getting the random reboots (first few days). but now i suddenly notice my phone rebooting all on its own at times now. i never restored any apps. only downloaded fresh copies and getting what i need when i need it. such an odd issue but thought i'd throw this in since some think it has to do with restoring apps..

Well it could always be more than one thing. The restoring is definitely one of the causes because I've had reboots every time I have used 3.0 and this last time I haven't had one.

First, awesome!
Next, I haven't read through all 19 pages, but...
When I checked my Software version, imagine my surprise that I'm still running 2.0, even though it's extremely obvious I'm running 3.0. Just a heads up for the Dev.
Thanks again for an awesome ROM!

MT is public about being bad at remembering to change the build version. I think he can be forgiven for providing such high quality work!

Is there any ready to get to the screen where I can change how the phone transitions from screen to screen? like the preferences menu in 2.0

I restored my phone to factory settings but bricked it when I tried the OTA update for ICS. I got my phone back up and running but want to install ICS. How do I do it? Is there a benefit if I plan on installing Broken Out 3.0?

Do I have to remove CWM totally? How would one do this?

Also is the Bluetooth working with 3.0?

Thanks!

Bluetooth works on bo v3.0 if you don't freeze music lilac.
I would stay away from ics until we have more information about it.
