Root [Rom][5-26-12]Broken Out Spectrum 3.0 w/ Blitzkrieg Kernel

quoted from OP
4.) WIPE DATA!!! (It is recommended to wipe going to 3.0!)

If i recall MT specified data wipe was required from 1.x to 2.0. wre as it is reccomded from 2.0 to 3.0. IMO this means it may be a little buggy if data is not wiped.

Yup. I didn't wipe from 1 to 2 and it was ok, but there were changes that needed data wipe going to 3.

Next flash will be without backup restoration, as I have not found any other reason for the reboots. Last flash was to eclipse and I've had lots of problems and reboots. Yesterday I did not use my Spectrum from noon till 9pm (plugged it in at noon, off at 245) had 3 reboots, 130, 530, and 720 (give or take 5 minutes or so).

It is either 2.3.6 or Titanium, as only eclipse 0.2 and Broken Out 3.0 have caused me this many reboots.

did you try my suggestion in the other thread? If you didn't then you really should. Reflash the rom without a wipe. This cured my reboots.

That's probably a fluke. More people are reporting problems than smooth operation without wiping data and updating from 2 to 3. It *might* go smooth if you had no corrupted data from restored apps in a previous flash, but someone would have to test that theory.

From what I can tell, the cause for reboots is either unknown (LG rom based) or related to people restoring app data.

I have no app data restored and went from a clean stock wipe. Reboots out the ass. Trying to navigate today and maps and navigation rebooted about 8 times in less than 30 minutes. Even removed OC and set min to 384. Set I/O to CFQ, have not tried to test on any other Gov but lagfree. It has done it at random times, always when there is some kind of activity, haven't noticed any when sitting. I'm almost at the point of going back to stock. I really like this rom, but I can't handle all this rebooting, especially with Google Maps.

Yea, that's the java overload issue that happens often with this phone. I experience it all the time, but many are quick to claim its a phone-specific issue.

I still say there is an issue with how this LG-based rom handles java that overloads the cpu and reboots. If we get an AOSP and it still happens, I'll eat my words, but I've never encountered this on another phone as powerful as the Spectrum.

wow. Please read my suggestion and give it some critical thought before you post because I wasn't suggesting flashing 3 over 2 without wiping. My suggestion (which has worked for me nicely and I know is no fluke because i've tested it) is to reflash the rom after you restore your apps. NOT A DIFFERENT ROM BUT THE SAME ROM YOU ARE ALREADY ON!!!

So yea, all of you having issues with reboots flash the rom again after you have everything restored and see if it ends your reboots. I'm not saying this is a guaranteed fix, but it has worked for me.

PS. I have gone from BO 3 to Eclipse 2 without wiping data and my phone works great.

Which is odd, because it happened to me far more on stock. Stock has more crap running all the time and self-starter apps that take up ram the OS needs to run some apps in high ram situations.

And that is the exact reason it is so odd to me. ^
It crashes with about nothing running besides maps on this ROM for me.

I just reflashed even though I came from clean stock anyway, will see what goes down.

Yea, I got that part. Your method may work for the odd, OS-related reboots (how? who knows), but that won't do ANYTHING for the people experiencing reboots from corrupt app data. Frankly, I don't see how flashing the rom again, without wiping data/cache/dalvik does anything other than zip-align apps and reinstall the OS. If what you're saying is true and the re-flashing somehow stops random reboots, then devs could use a double mount/install method to achieve these results. However, I just don't see how reflashing the rom can fix anything. Maybe MT or Nitro have some thoughts on the matter.

Peculiar. Are you using adw?

no i am using the stock home. i used cpu spy and everything checked out fine. i noticed i couldnt bench with antutu for some strange reason. i am unsure but the battery life is pretty bad. i have the extended 3000mah from verizon and i barely get 8 hours after 2 hours of screen time and the phone does go into deep sleep

I've used Titanium on both eclipse 0.2 and Broken Out 3.0 and have not had any reboots.

There is definitely a problem with that. The stock battery lasts me about all day and i have around 50 to 40% left by the end of the day.

Hi I am both new to this site, and to installing ROMS. I currently am trying to try to make this one work for my Spectrum, but it seems to not work for me. My phone is rooted, and I did many tests to confirm it is. I have 3.0 saved on my SD card. I have ROM manager with permissions on in Superuser. I wiped my phone as well. When I try to install the ROM from ROM manager the phone reboots and then the little android out of the box picture shows up, and then it passes it and just reboots into the regular opening sequence. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any help is appreciated!

http://androidforums.com/showthread.php?t=560289 ..... Run just the install recovery option and then run reboot recovery from the all in one batch

PLEASE TELL ME BECAUSE I'M COMPLETELY CONFUSED BY PEOPLE WHO KEEP USING IT AND THEN COME HERE SAYING THEY ARE TRYING TO FLASH THE ROM BUT ROM MANAGER DOESN'T SEEM TO WORK!!! READ THE DIRECTIONS!!! YOU DO NOT USE ROM MANAGER FOR ANY THING ON THIS PHONE!!!

i love your enthusiasm. i have seen about 3 of your posts slowly inching their way up to this climax. it's ok, little buddy!
:p

it definitely surprises me how many have just completely pushed the directions aside and tried to flash the rom their own way. I like trying to help people but when they are using rom manager and coming here with issues it's very frustrating for me because it shows me they don't follow directions very well.

I know of one guy who bricked his phone by flashing the nitro rom from rom manager.

But certainly you can see why someone might make that mistake? If they came from another phone with CWM available through RM, they might wonder "Hey, why not just 'flash' it here, like I always did?" They may not have read the convos we all had months back about how CWM for the Spectrum was specifically tailored to the phone.

There is definitely a problem with that. The stock battery lasts me about all day and i have around 50 to 40% left by the end of the day.
Agreed. My suggestion would be to wipe data/cache/dalvik and re-flash. But I'd be interested to know what apps/widgets he was using. Those suckers are a huge drain on battery and some, like NFL and Facebook are the worst offenders.
