Root [ROM][ALPHA] CyanogenMod 10 for the LG Connect 4G MS840

How do I change the keyboard? I installed one and selected it but it won't change. Also I've noticed that I have to press harder on the screen now than in any other ROMs. It's like the sensitivity has been turned down. I don't think I can use this but a day or two..... :(

Choose the keyboard under language and input settings.

Hey, I found it. On the lock screen it says "no sim card" but I have one. Everything seems to be working great but no data..... So I'm gonna have to go back to the old 2.3.6 it's too bad, I'm really enjoying this ROM. Yea I found where to change the keyboard.... ;)
Takes a while to find everything.

It's amazing how you get use to having mobile data and then when you don't have it it really drives you kinda crazy. Right now I'm trying to find a job so I need to be able to check my email on the go.

Maybe one day he will have this thing up and running. I'm gonna leave it on for today and tonight I'm gonna have to go back to my old ROM.
I also found out that the error i'm getting in cwm is causing my apps to be renamed plus it's causing some other issues but I don't know of another way to erase my data and do a factory reset. :) The dev will not reply back to my emails... grrr
 
Great mod works fine
using without service only real problem is that I can't see it charge when off and sometimes need to take battery out to turn back on only when charging the phone off

I sent like 4 emails to the one that is listed on Google play under the app ROM Manager and never got a response. Is that y'all?

Hey PG, is there anyway you can try and root the vv4 or vv5 firmware and do you think cm10 is only going to go this far or are you still messing with it? Spec has a Connect you can use..... ;)

I will be keeping my Connect until it dies on me for good, I've only had mine like 8 months and I usually try and keep my phones at least 2+ years. They cost too much. The connect still has a lot of potential (imo).

okay this forum is very large (ive been reading quite a bit on here), and i was wondering if someone can direct me to link that will allow me to root my phone. It is running 2.3.6 and the day before yesterday i tried several root methods all that did not work. It does like the whole script thingy but in the end I do not get super-user/ CWM. Also, I feel I must add, my phone restarts off when the script says it is going to restart. So idk what is up with that? How is rooting (if it is rooting it) but does not seem rooted. I have been googleing everywhere for 2.3.6 root, idont even know if the version matters. But these other methods are not working. And on of the root methods say driver for 2.3.1. I am so lost. Please can someone help me!!!!!nfohafoidfhioa <---i am losing it

I really want to get this custom rom, it looks so nice. I am like a fat kid in front of a cake shop. I get to see the wonderful work that PG has done but i cannot get it.
Also I have read elsewhere that PG made changes (fixes? possibly?) in the mms and all of that @http://playfuldroidz.com/wiki/CyanogenMod_10_Connect.
Can you verify this PG because it is puzzling that I read one thing here and people are having problems with data and all that other good stuff. Is there a more data/gps/mms stable custom rom? I am sorry for writing all of this I ve trying and researching for the past 5-7 hrs. I am hating life, luckly I have not bricked it.

Finally, thank you in advance who ever that may be.
 
What SW Version is your phone? If it ends with ZV8, ZV9, ZVA, and VV3 then you're good but with VV4 and VV5 you're gonna have to downgrade. VV4 and VV5 currently cannot be rooted so that would be the issue. Only use the root methods provided in this section of the forums because other root.methods are for different phones which could potentially mess with your phone and damage it somehow.

To the new guys, this rom does not have data working or mms and it will Show that your phone has an unknown number....

plans are to finish it yes, at least as far as it can go anyhow. I'm not the root guru, so no I prolly cant root vv4/5. ;) Now they prolly can be rooted, its just getting one of the root gods to pay it a lil attention. ;)
 
Hey thanks man. I am running a vv4. I did not think that was a crucial factor, sure i did read it alot that had vv... but I just took it as computer talk. Never knew that it was actually concerning the model or anything. Thank you so much.
Also i am kindof confuse. So i just do everything that is said in the forum and finally my phone would be downgraded then i can root my phone?
I am only asking because the ps3 cannot be downgraded. Sorry for any inconvenience and thank you so much.

Yea only vv3 can be rooted. Sucks I know, heard vv4 was way better than vv3. Too bad someone can't root vv4 and vv5...

wait what do you mean vv4 is better. In what way is it better, like battery life? I was wondering if the root plus the custom rom would make the phone smoother but at the same time use less battery because my battery life sucks ass

The stock battery life sucks ass regardless of which ROM you use. Only way to get better life is to buy an extended battery. I bought a QCell 3850 mAh battery that included a battery cover for like 28 bucks. VV4 uses less battery IMO but that is with a couple of apps and no sync activated. You can also try shutting radio, sync, GPS and WiFi off, or check your apps to see if any prevent the phone from sleeping.

I never used vv4 even though my phone came with it , I downgraded to vv3 cause I need root. I get about 4 hours of battery with heavy use but if I lightly use it vv3 will squeeze out maybe 7 hours. I only have the stock battery, stock rom debloated and rooted. It just depends on how much you use your phone. I usually have my cable so I can charge it on the road, etc. All Android phones use battery juice like it's going out of style. LOL!
 
To PlayfulGod and the other people working on this. I had a quick conversation with ackPrash on reddit. By any chance, has anyone considered going into their IRC and asking them directly? Maybe they could point you guys in the right place? :)
