Root [ROM] Andro-ID v.3.3 RC2

Also it seems like I can't send messages over a certain limit... There not long enough to be converted to mms though... Hmmm... Anyone else notice this?

Also mobstergunz do you know what files in the keylayout folder need to be edited? Or could I just edit them all and call it good?

If you use the app "GO SMS PRO" and under "Send Settings" and check mark "spilt large messages" would this help ?

Well it wasn't large enough to be a mms (160+ chars) it was only like 50... Although since then I have reinstalled it and it doesn't do that... so idk what it was...

since this is from source... how good would it be at running games more specificly HD games like back stab or lets golf 3..... i for got to try test it out when i flashed it

I dont know how different it would be form cm7 or miui especially since it still has the snapping issue... Performance wise I can run some benchmarks and see if its any different but probably not much if at all.

edit: also it appears to be already overclocked... The max is set at 1.4 ghz when you install it...
Anyways here's the results I got with quadrant, antutu, nenamark 1, and nenamark 2
Quadrant test 1: 1626 test 2: 1960
Antutu Bemchmark test 1: 3245 test 2: 3124
Nenamrk 1 test 1: 42.9 test 2: 43.2
Nenamark 2 test 1: 14.1 test 2: 13.8

These were all done without editing any cpu settings they were left alone. And since it is already OCed these scores seem low... can anyone run these same benchmarking tests on cm7 OC to 1.4 ghz with the lower cpu setting at 245 mhz and ondemand scaling. As these are the default settings in andro-id... I don't fell like flashing back to cm7 right now I want to play with this more otherwise I would do it myself...

Ran Antutu 2.5.1 on TG Reloaded CM7 w 245-1.4 ghz ondemand got 3640 & 3692 w interactive.

Also w 61-1024 interactive I got 2926. I only have a class 4 sdcard so that affects final score too.

So this falls way short :/ I use an 8gb class 4 card so we have the same class cards...
Edit: I think I'm going to go back to cm7, but am taking with me the keyboard and launcher :D. Overall this is a nice rom, but right now I don't even have an hd tv to take advantage of the hdmi and I miss too many features from cm7... But I do like the launcher!

Looting other ROMs now are we? :D Here's the proprietary blobs from stock Froyo MT, used for building CM from source. Since we don't have the source code for these files anyway, it'd be interesting to swap in other Gingerbread updated phones in the family to see if they're any better.

Some of the filenames are obvious, others may need a google search for more info.

What you need to do is install it as a system app, and to do that you need to either do it through ADB/terminal emulator, OR just use something like Root Explorer, etc. to move it to /system/app, reboot, and then go back to it from Root Explorer, etc. and open it (which should start the package installer, you SHOULD then be able to install it as a system app since the Android media scanner recognized it on boot), see if that works.

...If not, it's the obvious reason...files within the APK are designed for certain OS versions (lib, dex, db, data, cache files, etc.). I've tried installing gingerbread apps on FroYo ROMs before. It almost ALWAYS comes up telling me "There is a problem parsing the package".... to which I then throw out a good "F*CK YOU!!!" to my phone.

Like i said, APKs are usually designed with the operating system, phone type, screen resolution, ALL that crap in mind. Using a system app from another, different ROM is like throwing Charlie Sheen into an A.A. meeting; it won't know what to do :P

....And, correct me if I'm wrong everybody (and I'm in NO way trying to come off as insulting), but usually editing files within an APK renders it useless, since everything inside the APK relies on everything doing it's part. One line wrong (or changed) means the whole thing needs to be re-written, which means you might as well just make one from scratch.

Well the launcher is from a gingerbread rom and I'm trying to install it a gingerbread rom (cm7). And I've put it in the /system/apps/ folder and rebooted and tried. And I've tried adb installing and neither worked...

you can always try throwing the apk in the system/app folder before you flash the rom

but in this case it might not work since andro-id isn't deodexed this is just my assumption but this is probably the reason you couldn't use the launcher

so would there be way to use it with the .apk and .odex?

maybe but i don't know of a way to do it... try to delete the odex file in the apk if not you could deodex the rom then port over what you want from andro-id's app folder i can't guarantee that will work though its just a theory

EDIT: ima try this aswell cause i like the nexus livewallpaper in this rom :)

OK, well if you do manage to deodex the rom would you mind sharing? At least if the .apks will install...

That ROM is not specifically for the Triumph. It is for another variant using the same hardware. I think this is mostly linked here because we may be able to use drivers and such for ROMs people are trying to develop. I do not believe the radio (i.e. phone calls/3G) work with this as it is for a GSM phone not a CDMA one.

Actually weirdly enough the only thing that doesn't work is data... at least with the previous andro-id...
