Root [ROM] Android 2.2 FroYo - Brought to you by MDW (OC & Flash 10.1!)

Thanks for taking the time to respond, but with respect, I *think* I am doing it right. I am unzipping contents into its own folder and placing that folder in /nandroid on my SD card. I reboot my phone while holding down "X" to get to recovery then choose "nandroid" and "recover" followed by selecting the correct folder (there are two in the /nandroid dir including the backup of NexBeast). The update takes awhile, but I know it's wrong as soon as I see apps like Slacker being installed according to the update log. Any ideas?

Give it awhile to sync all your apps and stuff. And a couple of reboots, with battery pulls is a good idea too. You'll be surprised that it keeps getting faster and faster.

It may be restoring your apps but if it is there on reboot, then check your settings and see what the about phone stuff says.

I am off to finally get mine installed, be back later.

Anyone have anyluck on the tethering?

I was not able to get the wired tethering to connect

apparently you cannot have wifi enabled (even if not connected to anything) in order to have tethering work.

Also, has any buddy else noticed that when you connect the droid to the computer it automatically mounts to the computer..

I dont like that

I had this error and re-read the instructions...it said to press the "CAMERA" button when you click on the ROM Nanadroid file to back up (I was using the directional pad's center button). I pressed the camera button and success...it's the little things right? :D

just tried this and didnt work

Hey Fab,

I don't know if this has been mentioned but the kernel I downloaded from your OP were backwards.

The 1.1GHz Kernel was actually clocked up to 1.2GHz (not 1.25...just 1.2)
The 1.25GHz Kernel was actually clocked up to 1.1GHz.

I renamed the files appropriately all is good, just FYI

just pulled battery and tried it again and seems to be going now

Ah, I lied. Went to the natural bridge today instead, and now I'm back in Lexington.

Mammoth caves tomorrow :)

All of the State run caves in Illinois, Missouri, Iowa are all closed due to the outbreak of the White-nose Syndrome affecting bats. Was first found in New York in 2006 and no known cure so far. And all landowners with caves on their property are asked to not allow anyone in. Sad times they are!

Sorry for the off topic post, but enjoy the cave while you can.

So do I (using sprecovery method) need to flash using the P3DF-SPR THEN Flash over that with the update fix THEN flash over all of it with the kernel I'd like?

Anybody having problems using Titanium Backup to restore your apps? Every time I try to do a batch restore, my phone just reboots. Grrrrr.

I had it happen on the first batch restore and then I was okay after that. I would mention on the 2nd attempt, I restored less apps and I went back later and restored the rest. Worked okay and I'm guessing that I had an app like the NFL app that Titanium can never seem to backup or restore properly.

anyway to prevent the market downloads from automatically reinstalling apps

the way i defeated this was to not setup my google account during the initial setup and then go to the market and it will make you log into a google account. log into yours and un-check backup my data. that will prevent you from sitting there for an hour while shit reloads

I'll write up some instructions when I get back from dinner. I was caught up in the excitement that I just assumed that everyone knew how to install via nandroid.

Edit: or John could do it ;)

Fabolous: Will you be writing up instructions to get 2.2 on an already rooted phone or one running 2.1 that is not rooted? I would love to get 2.2 running on my Droid but it is not rooted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i've had absolutely no luck getting titanium to restore anything but data. i've been emailing the dev and he says it a problem with froyo but can't explain why only some of us are having issues with it. he said he had the same issue but a wipe fixed it. i've wiped at least 5 times and no luck getting it to work.

I just tried doing a 3 app batch restore. It did the 1st app, then locked & rebooted on the 2nd one. This blows.

Other than this issue, I'm liking this ROM. Running fast & stable at 1.1ghz. Browser is fast & flash is sweet.

anyone having issues with the app installer tool in astro. I select an app to install and it says nothing selected. kinda frustrating

Finally got FroYo installed! My problem was that I was placing my CW install folder in the /nandroid directory instead of the /clockwork/backup directory. 2.2 is up and syncing now, and I still need to install Flash and update the kernel, but on a side note, did anyone else see the following in their recovery log after install:

...
Restoring sd-ext...
No app2sd partition found. Skipping format of /sd-ext.
E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
(No such file or directory)
Can't mount /sd-ext/!
That is how my install wrapped up just prior to me rebooting phone. Everything "appears" to be working, but is that something I can fix or should I not be concerned about it?

Oh yeah, I remember reading that, but totally forgot. I'll be sure to label these.

Hmmm - About to reboot after restoring the backup, although I did get this:

Code:
Restoring sd-ext...
No apps2SD partition found. Skippig format of /sd-ext
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 (No such file or directory)
Can't mount /sd-ext

I thought it would have figured that since /sd-ext didn't exist it would abort that part...
