Root [ROM] Angry Bean / CM 10.1 [build 08.08.13]

It's been working perfect for me. Did you do a full wipe of all partitions except SD?
Sorry, there was a problem with my VM account.
I restored my working backups and the TEXT still didnt work. Soon as i restored my sense harmonia rom all the texts poured it. So i did a ##clear# to be sure and now everything works again on this rom.

Thanks and sorry for the mix up

One of the features that I missed the most on the stock ROM or midnight ROM is the internet pass thru, is that something that can be incorporated into this ROM?

Great job by the way i prefer this ROM over Wild for the night.

*SO* pleased with this ROM... installed it last night and (provided the battery life turns out to be good) it's definitely a keeper, thanks! Quick, slick, stable... My Evo and Nexus 7 (also on CM10) now feel like a matched set! :)

An observation: none of the three JB ROMs I've tried have either a 4G/WiMax signal indicator in the status bar or a 4G toggle available for the Quick Settings Panel. Thankfully there *is* a 4G toggle for the Power Widget. Is the status bar icon something I can add back in through a patch/hack/etc? I find I really miss being able to tell at a glance that I'm on 4G, and what my signal strength is.

The other thing I noticed this morning is that when I went into my WiMax settings while on WiFi, my WiMax connection was continually cycling through various states: scanning, connecting, disconnecting, disabling, re-enabling, scanning, connecting, etc., etc. I tried turning off WiFi, and when I rechecked my WiMax I found it was staying in the disabled state... then re-enabling it caused it to connect and stay connected. Re-connecting to WiFi caused the cycling to resume, and a couple of reboots didn't resolve the problem.

When I left home (which obviously caused WiFi to drop) and then rechecked, WiMax was connected... I'm wondering if the loss of WiFi causes WiMax to stay enabled/disabled, depending on where in the "state cycle" WiMax was at the time? I'll have to explore more over the next couple of days.

This unusual (to me) behavior, plus the missing 4G icon, means I feel the need to keep checking settings to make sure my WiMax is up. FWIW, at least holding the 4G Power Widget icon gets me right to the WiMax settings.

Anyone care to help/illuminate me?

Thanks!

These are things Chairshot and myself are working on. We both have a laundry list of stuff we want to resolve. The first is fixing our repo as we are breaking off dastin's to just focus on the VM Evo. dastin has been working on other models besides just the Evo (Jewel, Pyramid, Glacier, Samsung d710) in his builds so we are trying to disconnect from that and turn more towards CM code. The biggest issue we are having right now is we are not able to run logcat's from a fresh install so it's making difficult to pin point the problem on what I may have missed in setting up the new repo....anyways I think I am rambling at this point , just know it's on the list to be fixed!

First time post :) long time fan

I first used your rom for the triumph and fell in love with the work thanks much mr g60
appreciate it a ton!

Now I've obviously gotten an htc evo and flashed to your amazing rom and I love it,
but I've been having this issue where my phone after a couple days of normal might freeze or reboot and then it will go into the boot loop :(

after that I reinstall the rom but this has happen to me like 3 times already, any advice ?
<3 thanks

ps could it be overcloking?

I would recommend NOT using the performance options at all, until the device runs smooth for several days. This will give you a base line response, or "expectation" of how it will function normally. Then, you can begin using performance options. IMHO of course ;)

Awesome ROM, Madman! I love it and everything seems great so far, except I am having issues with Llama. When Llama sets a sound profile, sometimes the alarm setting doesn't stick.

Also, this might be a Jellybean issue, but when I save a Reddit page to Pocket, when I zoom in, it doesn't reformat the text. Does anyone have any solutions?

1x10^6 thanks! Don't mean to pile on, but I've noticed there's another 4G status issue: the Power Widget 4G icon's on/off status doesn't seemed to be linked to the actual WiMAX status. Toggling the Power Widget icon on or off has no effect on whether WiMAX is on or off.

There's no link the other way around, either... enabling or disabling WiMAX from the WiMAX Settings page has no effect on the Power Widget icon's on/off state. Basically, the icon only serves as a long-press shortcut for WiMAX settings... which I *do* appreciate as an alternative to going via the main settings window.

Use this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc instead. Works for me and can customize the display as well.

Thanks, Chicoman... downloading now to give that a try.

So... changing subjects, is anyone else getting absolutely wacky 3G Watchdog data on this ROM?

3G Watchdog is reporting an absolutely insane amount of uploaded traffic... even when I'm on WiFi! Thankfully/strangely, Virgin Mobile is telling me I've had no such crazy spike in actual usage.

FWIW, I have the pro version of 3GW, which reports data on a per-app basis, but all the upload data is categorized in the app's "OS services + others" catch-all category, meaning Android's reporting the data usage but not what's using it.

One other thing I'm experiencing... my system space is being gobbled up at an alarming rate! I didn't have a single notice about space running out on any other ROM, and haven't added more than one or two new apps, yet I've now had to unstall multiple apps and install Link2SD... flashbacks to my Optimus V! Just this evening I got a notice, system memory was down to about 90mB, so I linkied several more large apps to SD. In no time I was up to 160mB, yet checking my phone a moment ago (I was only watching TV, not even using the phone much) I realized the notice was back, and I was down to 68mB!

Anyway, wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing these symptoms, or if there were suggestions for alternative 3G counters or things to check for that might be causing my system memory to shrink.

I've so been loving this ROM... I don't want to have to switch! Here's hoping I've got some other, unrelated thing wrong... looks like it's time to go back to my last Angry Bean NAND backup.

In the time it took me to type that last email on my computer I've used 73MB of (presumably imaginary) data upload bandwidth (while on WiFi), and my system memory dropped to 10MB.

Hey there, my text messaging was broken with this update as well. I reverted back to the last update (03/20) and text messaging was broken still. It used to work perfectly. I tried reverting to Harmonia and doing ##clear# like the last guy, but I don't know what my password should be. Help anyone?

I was never able to get SMS working on any 4.2.2 ROM before this, and magically it worked when I first flashed this ROM. I would love to get this working, this is one of the best ROMs out there.

Looks like I'm in a similar situation, my SMS worked until I did a full wipe and 4EXT NAND restore... now incoming SMS is broken. My restore fixed my ballooning system partition issue, but looks like I'll have to do a clean install after all when I get a chance.

Wazzup!

Been loving the build g60, installed it the minute it hit (Literally.. I was dl'ing 20130320 and when I went to compare the Md5, it was a different file lol! Talk about timing eh? :D

Anyway.. Awesome work everyone!

Just wanted to pass on some of my experiences: If you use reboot from the power menu, it can cause the phone to boot loop and you have to wipe and reinstall to fix it. I just disable the option so I'm not tempted to use it :D

And while we're on the subject, PLEASE do a full wipe every time you install a new ROM.. any ROM!

Also, no one should use the GPS or wimax fix from the Midnight ROM unless you are having problems with that function. This version of Angry Bean should have absolutely no issues with either, so keep that in mind. If you have issue with these, double check your md5 of the gapps and rom and do it install them again (after a full wipe of course :) )

As a long time Andriod user, I would like to offer some advice to peeps who install apps outside the store (i.e. having to enable "Unknown Sources"): don't unless you absolutely trust the source. If you are doing this and start having odd problems with decreased battery life, increased data usage of any kind, diminishing memory, diminishing sdcard space... remove the app and see if it stops. Of course, you have to enable unknown sources sometimes to do something specific, like restoring a Titanium backup, or installing a particular version of gallery, installing flash, etc. Just make sure you disable it again once you're done.

The backup functionality in TWRP is awesome to restore your ROM install. Just make sure you back it up in a fairly pristine state, like right after you install and you are sure your phone is working correctly.

If you want any apps backed up, use something like Titanium Backup and just get the apps (and their data/settings) you need. It may be a few more steps, but it can give you great flexibility and control. (Usually, Titanium Backups you make can even be restored back to a different ROM.. quite handy indeed, this has been a real saver for me!).

Cheers!

I'm running a clean install. No SMS still.

Odd. But, maybe you should try a different file from joe_blow's thread. I used the one at the bottom of the list. His files contain the firmware for the phone, and should include a newer OTA as well.

The name of the file I used was 'VM_OTA-1.14_Hboot-jb1.50_twrp-241_PG86IMG.zip - 16.41 MB', maybe you can try it and re-flash. Make sure you verify the md5 signatures so you know the files aren't corrupted. I just renamed it and put it on my sdcard. Which of these files you use shouldn't matter, but...

Only time I have ever had this issue was when I changed phones, which isn't a smooth process with Virgin Mobile it seems
