[ROM] aospCMod | AOSP 2.3.4 / CM7 (Gingerbread) [05/23/11]

Let me know when you are ready...can walk you through it.
FYI - To avoid a HUGE pain in your A$$ - Flash to a CM6 ROM before you want to do this.

Why is that? Haha, why does the Android 2.3 ROM feel like it is so much more work than other ROMs?

Anyway, I will probably do flash to it tonight. So, if you want to tell me step by step, I would be very appreciative.

Yup....I will be at the Computer until 9:30 your time.

AOSP doesn't include Flash_image in his version of TE....

C&P

changes that *should* be preset: 180 degrees screen rotation, reverted to old music app. -- changes depend on CM7 repo sync time. YMMV.

More changes see here: Gerrit Code Review note that not all changes apply to our phone. Also note the dates, changes made after this was built, won't be in this release... obviously.

OK, since I'm 1/2 cro magnon man, the clockwork mod image update process is still confusing me.

Did Don ever create a step by step process thread? I haven't found it, not that I'm good at finding things. Without clear instructions I'm sure an EPIC FAIL will ensue. :(

Thanks again guys. :)

I thought it would be a good idea to do so. I'm still on 2.5.0.1. and I read it was going to be needed eventually. Just don't want to screw this up. I'm not ready to upgrade yet, I'm having too much fun. :)

Is this what you are looking for ?? and keep in mind this is for GB

Flash recovery using: RomManager

  1. Download recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.5-heroc.img
  2. In the sdcard, go to /clockworkmod/download/koush.tangtgaming.com/recoveries/
  3. Rename the old image there named recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.1-heroc.img to recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.1-xxx.img
  4. Move, then rename, the recovery-clockwork-3.0.0.5-heroc.img to recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.1-heroc.img (and make sure you put it the same folder as the old recovery)
  5. Go to Rom Manager and press Flash ClockworkMod Recovery and reboot your handset to recovery, you should see the orange text

Yes correct or you can do it from TE but you need the latest version of TE, this is the easiest way for you

I believe it is. Thanks!

I should do this before I flash GB right? Just making sure.

I need the new version of TE since I'm on AOSP. OK, I'm just reflashing from the current CWM but with a different file using this method.

  1. Rename the old image there named recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.1-heroc.img to recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.1-xxx.img
The recovery name should have the xxx in it right.

Yes the reason why you are going to use the new image but rename it to the old image name is for CWM mod to be able to flash it as it is set up to flash the 2.5.0.1 so it will flash it that way

Sweet! GB runs fine. I like it, gonna take a little getting used to. I'll probably run AOSP until this gets all the kinks ironed out.

Thanks again! :)

NP, have fun testing, I too am still using 9.9.2 as everyday and every once in a while I test GB to see what is new, but have not in a while, no camera no need for me yet, but what I would like to know which I did not try and anyone wants to check for me is if you can make conference calls on GB, let me know, I am not in mood to flash again until it becomes fully stable

Hit a snag last night. I flashed the new CWM, thanks Don btw, did a nandroid of my current AOSP. Flashed GB, worked fine, calls and messages went through no prob. Booted into recovery and restored my AOSP nand and POW, force close everything like crazy. No matter what I did, I couldn't get it to work.
First time for this kind of EPIC FAIL on my part. Nandroids have always restored without a hitch.
I had to restore AOSP from scratch this morning. Working fine now. I should make a nand now to have a stock AOSP restore on hand. :)

Just for giggles, it is NOT required to flash 3.0.0.5 recovery for the GB rom to work. ClockworkMod recovery 2.5.0.1 works just fine, just fyi

+1 but is recommended for the future

10-4. It's already in there, I flashed it last night. Thanks guys!

Hopefully when I flash GB to play around tonight my AOSP nandroid doesn't crap out on me again. :)

If it does jump ship, lol
