[ROM] aospCMod | AOSP 2.3.4 / CM7 (Gingerbread) [05/23/11]

Do I need clockword mod recovery to flash this? I'm still using the Amon Ra recovery image (it's what I know and I don't like change, so sue me)

If I don't need clockword do I just wipe data and dalvick/cache then flash the rom and gapps?

I was the same way as you up until just a little bit ago. I finally decided to falsh the CWM recovery and it has been fine so far. Just keep your old recovery around so you can flash your old nandroid if you need to. Oh, and make a new one with CWM as well. :)

I think the latest is 3.0.2.4 which is what I am on now

It is ClockworkMod version 2.5.0.7, I believe. The latest is version 3.0.0.7, but ClockworkMod version 2.5.0.7 will be just fine for your purposes.

The difference between the two is some wording changes, different colored text, and what type of scripts it handles, which is Amend versus Edify. Just go with ClockworkMod version 2.5.0.7 for now and you will be good to go.

Check your stock message settings.

theres no option to check LED in the stock message settings... it kind of works now. It will flash when i get a message but once i unlock my phone it stops. it usually kept flashing until i actually opened the message...

The option you're looking for is in cyanogenmod settings, interface, led notifications, advanced

In mine there's an option for "always pulse". It says led will pulse when screen is on.

i have been afk here since i went 2 xda.. but they were kinda rude to me.. so..... why did aosp take down the dl link at xda?

btw, find all the answers i need either through xda or trial and error... not that anybody was racing to answer them, haha!

replaced market w/ different version and this remedied my lack of market links, though I don't think this had anything to do w/ my TB app + user data backup.

no gps issues w/ this rom for me anymore. it, along w/ colin's ph batt tweak run great for me! on cwm 2.5.0.7 recovery w/ 3.x Rom Manager App; don't ever plan to go to 3.x on CWM Recovery.

Neither here nor there, but I LOVE root explorer; it makes adb or shell virtually unnecessary for me when removing apps and copying to and from from /system to /data.

But anyway, my fav featurse of this rom besides the comparable stability and speed to aosp froyo is the eq, and long press volume track change (handy other day when dedicated mp3 player died on run), and now the updated vectors based maps w/o need for build.prop edit.

I have been using this rom for a while. I have went to fresh ro with android version 1.5 to update my prl and then restored back to this rom, I have noticed that every time I use the search function in the market it force closes. Is anyone else having issue? I don't remember this being an issue before I did my prl update but I don't use the search in the market often so its possible that I just never noticed.

First I would flash a Liquidsense to update your PRL and profile as that is on 2.1 and not 1.5, I don't think that is your issue, but you can also go into application and look for the search feature, and try wiping cache and data, then back out and close, and try it again, if that does not work, try booting into recovery, then wipe cache and Davlik and reboot, and see if that helps, if not, then I would simply create a Nandroid, then I would boot back into recovery, and wipe cache and Davlik again, and also wipe cache partition, then flash the Rom again and see if that resolves it, report back

Well I went into manage applications and tried to delete data and cache blut didn't work, next I clicked uninstall updates. This fixed it and even made it match my dark horse theme. Thanks for the help.

I have been looking for a liquid sense rom so that i can flash to update my profile but I think I may be looking for the wrong thing. Where can I find the liquid sense rom with 2.1 that you were talking about? Thanks again

I recently installed the rom released 04/21 everything seems fine so far. The only problem is i can't log onto google voice for my voicemail. It didn't come installed with the rom and gapps folder so i downloaded it from the market. I get a message when trying to long in,"Not subscribed:your account is not yet enabled for Google Voice. Visit google.com/voice to sign up". I've tried recreating an account with the same result. Is there something im missing? Am i the only one.

Google Voice works just fine with this build, I would delete the app again, then before installing, I would go on your PC and make sure all your settings are correct for it to work with your phone, and make sure you are entering the username and password correct in the phone, make sure your caps are not on etc.. Report back

Google Voice works for me on the latest 4/29 release. I went to the Web Page first and enabled it for Sprint - had to say enable, then it called me and I typed in some numbers. Then I did a *38 to un-enable my old YouMail forwarding settings. Then it all worked. Maybe there is a problem in your call forwarding for GoogleVoice. Try dialing *38 - you hear some tones and then a disconnect. Than see if you are still not subscribed. I would first try deleting and then reloading as DonB suggests. I also got Google Voice from the Market.

Are you talking about the new Sprint-->GV merge number feature (i.e. choose GV or Sprint number)? If so, that really isn't necessary in order to fully use the Voice app. I personally cancelled it when it popped up; though the option remains available in gv settings, I don't think I will use it anytime soon because I like using Google Voice in its traditional manner, as a gateway and opt for 2 numbers (my personal, and my GV) rather than one or the other.

^ +1 and how wants messages in 2 apps , lol

I also wondered what would happen if I switched carriers away from Sprint too. Since it is a Google Voice number now would it remain one if I switched to a different carrier?

I am perfectly happy with the Google Voice app's regularly functionality. I like being able to hide behind my Google Voice number in the event I have to give out a number to someone I am not that familiar with.

Good question.

Same here on use of GV. I think Google is merely trying to simplify it as much as possible for some (which works if you don't want another number but merely the gchat voice/vm/etc. features), but this ploy also helps goog to reallocate many numbers they gave away freely, and in some areas, are sorely in need of.

no thanks big G, I'll keep your numbers and my number, I like to keep it complicated!

Ok I'm starting to have the well known GPS issues associated with this ROM. I read somewhere that there was a fix for it. Would any of you kind people happen to know what that might be?

From what I know is that none of the fixes that people tried ever worked for good. Some have had success turning jit on or turn up your min cpu settings. Also some have said reboot right before you use the GPS. This works for some because it appears it is a data compiling problem where it begins to build up and the phone runs out of memory and reboots.

On a more pleasant note AOSP was on xda today and said he hoped to have a new build up soon for us. (Which usually means within a week or so) But I think I read that the newest nightlies don't suffer from the gps issue anymore. So if he builds off of one of those we can only hope the gps issue is fixed.

I agree, I was using the GPS yesterday for golf for the yardage and it rebooted twice, so I simply booted into recovery and wiped Cache and Davlik and had issues after that, so it is a hit or miss for some, I had not had a GPS reboot in months and yesterday voila twice, lol
