Root [ROM] ApeX 1.2 Series for Droid X - Functionality and Performance (12/7/10)

Whoopsieeee. Installed the Gingerbread keyboard, and now I don't know how to return to the original 1.0.2.2 keyboard Apex had. :p Someone help me! This keyboard is awkwardly small for some reason thanks to Apex. :p

I'm having a hard time rebooting into clockwork...i have the bootstrap, but it won't reboot into recovery, any suggestions?

That's the way the keyboard is, it has nothing to do with Apex :)

You'll need to replace LatinIME.apk in /system/app with the default, as well as lib_jnilatinime.so (or something close to that) in /system/lib

now that .340 is about to hit when can we expect and update?

I'd say a few days after .340 is in my hands.

whenever i take a picture, it goes through the motions like it took it and saved it, but when i go to the gallery to view it, it is just the "mountain" picture and the file on my sd is 0 bytes. any suggestions? thx

Sounds like you installed the incorrect version. Make sure you chose the correct version depending on whether you installed the leak or not.

System version = 2.3.15
Build number = Apex 1.0.2.2

That's my settings and I believe those are the correct ones.

EDIT: I disabled the geotagging/GPS feature, rebooted, and now it seems to be working as it should.

its going to be different on every phone. but if you pick a ulv setting not above 1.15 your voltage settings should be below stock. and in theory should save battery life.

so far, a "typical" day for me, and I have 20% more battery remaining after 15 hrs than I used to...increased usage by probably 10-20% as well. (played angry birds for about 45 mins, which I usually don't play while I am at work...

Overall, 15 hrs later, and I am still at 30%...I am one happy camper!

I get a FC when pressing the voicemail button in the dialer. To check VM, I must manually dial *86.

Used ROM Manager to fix permissions, still getting the same error. VZW's Visual VM app states that my phone "already has the capabilities to use VM" and forces me to install the app.

Yes, I subscribe to Visual VM.

Any ideas?

Yes, download the removedapps archive from the first post, extract VVMStub.apk from that archive, place it on your sdcard. Then, in terminal emulator:

su
install VVMStub.apk

I don't see VVMstub.apk

is Vvm.apk the same?

edit: forget it, got it working! thanks again!

I also found that my camera issue was caused by this same thing. Because it happened again in 1.0.2.2 but turn off that location thing fixed it. Now I've just gotta figure out how to get this gingerbread keyboard bigger...

I love the rom, but would I be able to remove adw launcher completely and install launcher pro plus? Is that the same thing as doing su -> launcher -rm in terminal emulator?

I'm using 2.3.15 and tried installing apex 1.0.2.2. I did the bootstrap recovery followed by the reboot recovery. Navigated to the the .zip file. Everything seemed to be going okay but my droid x is now frozen at "installing update..." with nothing happening to the progress bar. Any ideas? Is it possible to fix since i formatted the phone?
Thanks, Nirav

Oh! I knew that file needed to go somewhere. I just had no idea where. Haha. Thank you for your help!

Also, it sucks that the keyboard is that small. Do you think there is anyway to adjust that? If not, I don't mind at all. Haha.

Can I remove some of the blur apps that I don't need and didn't appear version 1 of apex using the uninstall command in terminal emulator?

Sorry for all the questions.

Do you have ROM manager installed? Do you have the Droid X Bootstrapper installed? Make sure you run the bootstrapper first, then you have to run ROM Manager and install Clockwork. Then you go into either of them and click Reboot to recovery.

Fab, I accidentally forgot to wipe my data and cache. Will this lead to problems with the ROM? This is my first time installing a rom. Sorry very NOOB of me but....gotta start somewhere I guess.
:D

:D

you can still wipe it. it will take you to a clean fresh ApeX install.

I didn't want to jinx it but about a week in and I haven't had one random reboot since installing the new version of ApeX. I'm not sure if it is something with this ROM ver or because I used a different rooting method but I could not be happier. I loved the previous version even with 1 random daily reboot (I was seeing this on all ROMs and even rooted OTA) but without it I am elated.
