Root [ROM] ApeX V1.0 for Droid X - An AOSP Experience (10/20/10)

should be easy.

1. sbf 2.2 to get new system,kernel,baseband
2. use SuperOneClick to root
3. install bootstrapper
4. reboot to recovery
5. flash RC2
6. re install your apps or maybe try an advanced restore of data.

When you SBFed, did you wipe data and factory reset?

I had to flash the partial sbf after bricking my phone last week ...prior to this I was on ota 2.2....should I or do I need to flash the new 2.2 sbf fir apex rc2 since it is off of 2.2 build or am I ok and should just wait to flash sbf 2.2 until I brick again or need another ota update?

you are fine. as long as you have root and bootstrapper you can load RC2 over your OTA

Nice little guide mind if I use it? :D

One Problem..where is RC2 hiding?

Also did you do a clean install, so to speak?
I'm going to wipe everything and format sd (backing it up now)

RC2 will be out tomorrow i hope. i did not do this yet. after you sbf. its probably a good idea to do a factory reset just to clean things up.

Oh well I'll let you know how it goes.
I'm going to go to recovery and format everything including SD.
Then I'll reboot to bootloader and do step 1.

I'm probably doing more than needed but if I have troubles I'll know its not something I had left on the phone.

Went well no problems so far

Flashed the 2.2 and rooted.
Make sure you run the oneclick as an admin or it just sits there.
Just putting it all back together now,

So with the 2.2 SBF you don't have to go back using the 2.1 SBF and then accept the OTA to get to 2.2? You can just 2.2 SBF and be fine right?

Where do I get the 2.2 SBF? Also, is it safe to SBF my current rooted and leaked install with this? I'm just not sure what steps I should be taking in order for this to go over smoothly. :(

This is driving me slightly nuts. I can't double tap format this forum. It just zooms in. Just checked my wifes Di and it formatted when I double tapped here. It was beautiful. Now, why is my Dx failling to do this?! Is it apex or revolution theme?

Have you tried with a different browser?

No, but I don't want another browser...I am a google fanboi.
the funny thing is that on other forums it works. ...maybe it has something to do with the revolution font I installed. I will check that out.

I've been away for a while. Am I missing something?? What's this new sbf we have? Im not touching my leak unless obsidian is cancelled. Or should I not have to worry about any of it??

we now have the official 2.2 sbf so if you brick your phone you don't need to got back to 2.1 you can use the 2.2 sbf. the sbf also includes the new kernel and baseband.

there is not need to do the OTA. the SBF is the OTA 2.2. you can do it either way but i think the cleanest safest way is the sbf.
