Root [ROM] ApeX V2.0.0 Beta (5/3/2011)

Hey Fab, love the customization that Apex brought, especially with the toolbox. I can't wait for you to bring it to 2.0 and let us choose which blur is right for each of us more easily.

I got a development request for Apex that I think would be useful to many. I love the new blur weather and social apps (where you shuffle through like cards). However, the widgets are awful for so many reasons. Is there any way to create a widget or task to open the apps without having to access them through the widgets? That way we could access the blur apps through Fancy Widget/Widgetsoid/etc.

For some reason, I had a "blur" app, but now it's gone. Is this something that I did, or something that was "supposed" to happen during setup? I'd like to go back to the stock GB app drawer if possible.

Also, how do I change the launcher from 3 icons to 5? I can't FOR THE LIFE OF ME remember where it is.

Anyone else having dialer Trbl mine does nothing but dc. W. ked fine for over a week. Dialer one works fine. Tried clearing cache and reinstalling zip. No luck

I haven't but want me to try and see what happens? OK...let me do a nandroid and I"ll give it a try. ;)
Update: My battery was very low so I put it on the charger and will try in a few minutes.

Never heard back so tried it myself. Short of having to do a factory reset to get out of bootloop, all seemed to go well and I overwrote the Apex I guess with .595 as that's the version it shows me on now. Can't wait for the official and the hopefully upcoming updated Apex, I already miss it! :(

Hey all, so I'm on Apex 2.0, I'm using smooth calendar.

I restored the blur calendar, but now sometimes if I reboot, the calendar app won't open and the smooth calendar widget, says there's no/corrupt calendar information.

But....if I reboot again..all is well.

Thoughts?

I am without a phone now! Cannot get a good sbf at all. No idea why. Tried to get GB leak but now stuck on Bootloader err:eek::confused:

how do i sbf?????

I would suggest you start with this link:

Droid X Gingerbread (2.3.3) - Release - PreRooted

The first part of the topic is about how to SBF.

I have flashed my stuff back to stock, starting a new job, and might need factory settings to link up with the enterprise server (if allowed). If not, my a-- will be flashing back to Apex, if I ever get smart enough to figure out which blur to add to keep my docks from re-booting every time I plug in.

Coupla tips:

Charge your battery fully before attempting this.

If you get hung on boot, which happened to me this past time, pull the battery, put it back in, and before you hit the power button, simultaneously hold volume and home button. This will get you into factory reset mode. Once you get past that, wipe, wipe, and wipe your device's cache and reset it to factory.

After this you should be 'clean' (don't flame me for blur or bloat!!!):D, now reinstall root stuff to your heart's content.

Rock on....

Thanks I've been looking for a good sbf download. This one looks promising. Got RSD lite 4.8 but not sure what to do when this is done downloading.

Download the removed apps .zip file that Fab posted. Unzip it and copy any of the APKs that you want to your SD card. Then, on your phone, use Root Explorer or a similar app to move them to /system/app. Long press on them and change the permissions to:

Owner: R+W
Group: R
Other: R

Alternately, you could set the permissions via the terminal by doing:
su
cd /system/app
chmod 644 *.apk

Then reboot.

Note that some apps have dependencies on each other - the stock text messaging app is Conversations.apk, but it also requires BlurEmailEngine.apk to work right - you can refer to my thread for a little more information, and just keep it in mind if you copy an app over and it doesn't work right:

http://androidforums.com/droid-x-al...files-safe-remove-gingerbread-gingerblur.html

I've tried this every way imaginable and I keep getting "Operation Not Permitted" when running 'restoreblur' in Terminal Emulator. I'm just trying to restore BlurHome. Any ideas as to what I could be doing wrong? It's driving my crazy. I'm tempted to SBF and start over.

You must request superuser permission.

su
restoreblur

Any script that actually does something worth a damn requires elevated privileges.

OK, got it to run, but it didn't do what I was expecting it to do. I was hoping to get the stock app drawer restored. And, I'm not sure how to get my launcher expanded to 5 icons (instead of the default 3). Of course, I can never remember that.

Beer donation coming soon by the way!

-Clicking on phone numbers in Maps or Browser does not copy them into Dialer

First, you rock for doing this!!

Second, is there a way to overcome this limitation? It makes it difficult to call a restaurant when searching in Maps or Browswer.

Most of the numbers from within a google search pop in. just not from actual web pages.
