Root [ROM] Axura 2.2.5.5 (by Master -Devs4Android-)

Each build is accompanied by an updated modem. Some have been better than others. I know a lot of people swear by the JK2 modem. I have never used it. JL1 gave me a lot of problems. JL4 seemed to work best for me.

I am just using whatever comes with each rom and havent had any issues. If I for example get a low signal ill just turn on wifi calling if im near a hotspot or something.

I ditched wifi calling. It runs in the background and chews on your battery life

A lot of stuff runs in the background. I'm coming up to 14 hours since boot and I'm at 13% on the charge. Wificalling runs in the background for me too but doesn't eat much battery power.

16 hrs 49 min w/ 24% left

I found that using the Yahoo mail App drains mine quicker.

Light to moderate use today but yesterday i went 18 hours w/ 9% left when i plugged it in to go to sleep with a little bit more usage.

I dont do wifi calling. There is an App called Tango you can use for voice calls that dont use your minutes. It is also a fvideo chat App.

I have noticed this ROM is a bit more power hungry than my old setup. I'm wondering if the voodoo kernel in this ROM is for the i9000. I may flash the Vibrant JL5+Voodoo kernel and see how that works out. I'll report back what I find.

EDIT: I have been running most of my setups previously with super IO which has ridiculous battery life, so I may just be spoiled.

I always read about the super IO. What is that, another kernel like the JL5??? If so, how can I install it and where can I find it please??? Thanks

It is a stock vibrant kernel with the IO tweaked to perform faster. Without any lagfix at all it will run 1200+ quads. Eugene is the one who made it. You can find it on xda. If not, then just float over to Eugene's page, it will be there for sure. It's CWM flashable. Just make sure voodoo is disabled first.

Are you running the super IO with a voodoo? I thought it was one or the other? I've been wanting to try super IO with the latest jl5 modem but didn't want to give up voodoo just cause how fast and smooth it is.

BTW, I tried this latest Axura and it just didn't agree with me. I found to be not as stable as Nero and not as smooth either. And for some reason my phone was running a little hotter without any apps installed.

Exactly lol. I am just using whatever the roms come with along with voodoo enabled. I thought about getting one of those kernels but for now its fine since I don't go out a lot and use my phone much. Maybe when I have another job drop into my lap I will be looking into it again though.

Hi Master,

Could you tell me how to flash just the modems??? I tried to do that with the super IO and soft bricked my phone. But, I did get everything back by using the Odin method and then reflashed it with YOUR AXURA 2.2.5.9. Great ROM and how can I donate to you??:D

I don't know if Master is actually a member here, but you can visit devsforandroid.com and donate there.

EDIT: most modems flash through CWM like you flashed your ROM

Okay,

I hope someone can answer these questions for me because I am now totally frustrated.

1) How long should I wait after I try to CWM the superIO.zip?
2) I tried it twice and softbricked twice. (I waited about 5-minutes, it was stuck on the SAMSUNG VIBRANT screen). Am I doing something wrong?
3) I am running AXURA 2.2.5.9 with voodoo, JL5, and kernel version 2.6.32.9. Is the superIO not compatible?

P.S. I also tried ti with voodoo off and on. HELP!!!!!

It took somewhere around 5-10 minutes for mine to setup but I used the one from this link. I don't really know if thats any different from superIO but it seemed to increase battery life a bit. Btw where is this superIO found at?

Ok so the first time I tried flashing superIO my phone softbricked so I had to odin over a rom and start from scratch. So after a while of doing what I had to do to the phone to get nero v3 back, I then after nero v3 was installed (not putting on my backups yet) proceeded to install the super IO kernel and then it seems to work with no softbrick. So maybe you should try it with a fresh install of whatever rom your using, if it still doesnt work it might not be compatible or something.

Seems a lot of people are having trouble w/ 2.2.5.9

Im running 2.2.5.6 and i dont have any issues. My phone is running great and im not going to flash again unless Master comes up with a 2.3 that has some big changes..,..when he comes back. Im sure he will at some point.

I would always flash anything and evrything with Voodoo disabled. You just don't know how they will react.

I specifically remeber(but not exactly sure) reading that you either use Voodoo or Super IO but not together.

How are you going about flashing the ROM? The best way that I found flashing a new ROM or anything is by opening CWM

Select "vibrant" in the "flash Clockworkmod Recovery" list

then select "Reboot into Recovery"

From here you will be booted into CWM recovery and will be able to select any .zip file to flash.

I have yet to brick my phone using this method(knock on wood). This is the same method I use when flashing all ROM instead of selecting "Install Rom from SD Card". Hopefully this helps you out

Geez, now what happened?

Apparently there was a level of disrespect between him and XDA. People also started claiming that he wasnt a real dev and just a theif. I had to look it up myself b/c I had some questions about some issues I was having with Axura but than I decided that I was much happier with Nero. Some people speculate that he won't even be allowed back at XDA but others think he will.

I personally don't understand what peoples problem were, I thought his ROMs were great and nobody but some users(not devs) were claiming he was stealing work from other "devs". I'm not gonna get into here but if you want to find out for yourself just do a search for his name over there

Ok, thanks for the input. I have only tried AXURA and liked it so I stuck with it. Is Nero better and just as easy to install (i.e. from CWM with a zip file) like AXURA is?

Ive seen it mentioned that he takes others work and adds to it and i dont really care myself.
I havent tried Nero because ive seen others coming from Nero say Axura has been better, so i havent bothered trying it. Not that i wouldnt ever try it.
I would like to, but i dont like to flash everything because it is a pain to get everythng the way you want it on your phone.

Right now what im running is working really well so i dont want to mess with it unless like i said, he comes out with another that has some big changes. I dont flash every new one just because it has a new battery icon....lol

I find it amazing that people who get free ROMs from these devs to make our crappy outta the box Vibrants better are the ones that are complaining and running them outta XDA. Some people just dont know not to look a gift horse in the mouth.

I know what you mean about it being a pain but I've tried them both for extended periods of time and Nerov3 with Voodoo is just soooo smooth and fast. ADW works amazingly well with it also but with all these roms its always a preference.

The screen transition animation in Axura are definitley better but I like the speed and responsiveness of Nero. To me, Axura is just more of an aesthetic upgrade more than anything. Out of all the ROMs, Team whiskey's claim to v3 being the most stable is definitley true. But to each his own
