Root [ROM][Beta][FINAL] CM7 Android For Triumph [Tickerguy Edition, Kernel: mine] 11/19

Out of curiousity, what is that hack doing? I added it to my build.prop and it has helped data reliability tremendously.
I'm curious about this, as well. It seems that making that change has helped my wi-fi data performance. That doesn't make any sense to me, but the sites I regularly use are loading noticeably faster over wi-fi.

WIFI isn't related to 3G performance. The speeds you're getting over WIFI is determined by how fast the network you're connected to is.

I realize that. I'm saying that after I added that line to build.prop my wi-fi performance, no matter what network, improved noticeably. I pretty regularly check my Android Market Developer Console via the phone, and it was sluggish before the build.prop change. Afterwards, it loads 2 or 3 times faster. As I said, it doesn't make sense, but I thought it could be that the setting is changing some flag in the networking code that also affects wi-fi. That's why I'd like to know exactly what it does do. It seems like my ping times, even over wi-fi, are much better with that setting in build.prop, and that that's why pages load faster (since there's a ping-sized delay for every element on the page, basically, or more for the Developer Console, since I'm pretty sure it loads a lot of things via ajax).

I got a question for ya. Ticker guy says hdmi will be very tough. How likely will we ever see this feature?

It's a possibility, but then again, I didn't think we'd be having so much trouble with GPS. TBH, I've never even used HDMI out. Even with the stock ROM. (I don't have the cable). I wouldn't count tickerguy out though. It's not high on his priority list, but it's on the list.

In response to the GB launcher being laggy, I've decided to build a new one. If anyone would like to try it out, I've attached it to my post. The source will go up soon to my Github.

For the furture, I'd like to add ADW/LP like features such as uninstall an app by dragging it to the trash can, etc. Maybe I'll expand on this and add ADW2 features while retaining the default GB launcher look.

To install: Simply download the apk, put it on the sdcard and install it. I've only tried this on my build of CM7, so YMMV.

EDIT: I know the 3D app drawer is missing (only 2D right now). That'll change when it's included into the source.

EDIT2: Source is up: https://github.com/ikarosdev/androi...mmit/d6a97033377e038d9aaaf20c29eabbdc387106bf

I think it would be cool to add a poll to the thread where we can choose what we want Tickerguy to work on next (after he's fixed or given up on gps)

I think it is probably best to let him decide what he wants to work on. Same for any developer. They give their time and knowledge for free, and they already know the issues and bugs, they will get to them when time permits.

I know this is a long shot but would the firmware update for the HTC Thunderbolt that fixes GPS issues help with this development in any way? The reason I ask is because the HTC Thunderbolt has the same Qualcomm MSM8655 chipset that's inside the Triumph and the issues this firmware update fixes is very similar to issues people have been having with the Triumph..

HTC ThunderBolt Issues:
- GPS not locking on or very slow
- Data signal constantly transitions between LTE, 3G, and 1x
- Sound in video recordings is very low
- Video playback very choppy and blurry

The firmware is supposed fix all the issues above so since the Triumph and Thunderbolt share the same hardware would it be possible to use these fixes on the Triumph? I am not a dev and don't know if this will help but I thought I would just share this info just in case... Cheers!

So, in my neverending quest to make the Triumph my personal own Nexus S. I've ported the Nexus S live wallpaper over to CM7. The difference between the new one I've created and ones you can find on the market is that this one is still configurable. Essentially, it's still the default Nexus LWP that comes with CM7, but it's been changed to look like the default one from the Nexus S stock 2.3 ROM. On a fresh install, CM7 will look like the Nexus S. :)

Does everything that works in tickerguy's version work in your version Isaac? If so, how can I get your version?

thats sweet issac!!! is it an individual app, or built into the livewallpaper.apk? if its individual can you post it here please? i'd like to have it without cm7 for now :)

I haven't built a new version since tickerguy picked up the project. This is mostly because there wouldn't be any point in putting out 2 versions as we're both building from the same source.

I'll send him a message tonight to see if he'll include the new launcher, Nexus LWP and OC kernel (1.9 GHz) in his next build. :)

sweet man! i hope he does include it soon... is the livewallpaper able to separate from the rom to be installed onto a "non-cm7" phone?

I'm not sure, actually.

You're welcome to try it. I've attached it to this post.

I've also attached a new GB Launcher that allows you to drag apps from the drawer to the trash can to uninstall them. Let me know how well (or not) it works.

NOTE: It will NOT allow uninstalling system apps.

EDIT: Just realized the LWP apk was force closing when you changed colors. I've uploaded a new one that fixes the FC issue.

EDIT2: I'm getting reports that these don't work with 2.2.2. I don't have any plans to make these work for 2.2.2. They'll be included in CM7 in the coming builds.

What might the odds be of you uploading your kernel as a flashable? I apologize for my impatience and my impulse to be so

the kernel might be a no-go.... from what i know kernels are made to work with the firmware, resulting in it not working for 2.2.2 (sadly)

Well, technically, it's the DoomLoRD OC patch. So, if you're using that, you already have it.

What I want to happen is have the kernel included in CM7 as it already has built in CPU controls in CMParts. The actual kernel (zImage) can be used with either 2.2 or 2.3, but once it's been packed into a boot.img (with other CM crap), it'll only work on CM7.

If you're wanting to use it with CM7, I actually have my build env back. I'm at school right now so I can't upload anything too large (it'll take FOREVER). I get my internet back tomorrow, so I can upload it then.

I'll definitely include it in the builds here... better if I have source, but if not it's ok.

Speaking of builds, how goes the progress? curious since we haven't really had much in the way of an update since the 12th... I know your probably busy but just curious

I was actually asking for it for cm7, 2.2 is kinda well crap lol, haven't used it much since he started uploading these cm7 builds

I'm using whatever tickerguy has in his rom. Are you talking about the doom kernel for the andro-id rom? if so I have no idea how to unpack cm7's boot image and pack that kernel into it. I've been itching to start tinkering around myself but natty narwhal is being quirky and my wifi is intermittent so I've been spending most my time on the windows 7 side of things.

The live wallpaper works great, but the launcher force closes when I select it.

@isaac... your livewallpaper.apk is giving me a parsing error. i have tried redownloading multiple times and got the same results, i think there may be something wrong with the file.

Had to post this up peeps but GPS is working on mines. I never ran it with the rom from tickerguy I installed the other day but before that I would always randomly check my google maps just for the hell of it. That was when I realized that I was one of the unlucky people who couldn't lock on. So I swapped the GPS file with the one that posted on this site some time ago and was able to lock onto 7 satellites in under 10 seconds. Now to make a long story short, I haven't installed any of tickerguys roms except for the last one. I randomly booted up google maps and viola my GPS is working accurately perfectly. Try swapping the GPS file before installing the rom! :-)
